Our Vision: We
envision a caring
and healthy
community which
recognizes the
wisdom and
experiences of
older adults, and
demonstrates
awareness and
respect for the
aging process.
3
Frank and Mary Szuch
In 2015, PTSCC said
good-bye
to two long3
time members of the
Board of Directors. Mary
3
Szuch, who represented
4
Community Consolidated
5
School District 15, was a
member of the Board for
5
ten years, served as Board
6-7
Chair, Gala Chair and Co8
Chair, and was founder of
our Girls’ Night Out
8
fundraiser. Since its
Sarah and Pat Donahue
inception in 2007, Girls’
Night Out has raised over
$67,000 to support our
programs and services.
After Mary’s retirement
from School District 15,
she accepted a position
with Roosevelt University.
Treasurer Patric “Pat”
Donahue was also a
member of the Board of
Directors for ten years, and
Treasurer for eight years.
Pat devoted many hours
each month providing
valuable advice and
oversight of the PTSCC
finances. Pat and his wife
Sarah retired to Arizona.
Both Mary and Pat
involved their families,
friends, and colleagues in
the work of PTSCC. Thank
you, Mary and Pat, for your
leadership, dedication and
generosity!
Thank you for your ongoing support:

What We Do
Golf League
PTSCC offers a wide
variety of programs and
services designed to help
older adults enjoy life to
the fullest.
Our Recreation, Lifelong
Learning, Health and
Wellness, Noon Dining,
Home Delivered Meals,
Adult Day Services, and
Social Services programs
are available to persons 50
and better and their
families who live in
Palatine Township and the
surrounding communities
in the north and northwest
suburbs of Chicago.
While most of our
clients live in Palatine
Township, last fiscal year
we served individuals and
their families from nearly
80 different communities.
Services are available in
English, Spanish, and
Russian at four satellite
locations. Our Social
Services staff also make
home visits as needed.
Making a Difference!
Spending time with
your friends at the Senior
Center is good for you!
74% of those responding
to our survey said that
they agreed or strongly
agreed with the statement,
“I feel happier or more
Quilters
Rose Hong and Fan Brown
Día de los Muertos (Day of
the Dead) Celebration
satisfied with my life since
I have been coming to the
Senior Center.”
And not only can you
have a good time, you can
find out information to
make your life easier and/
or better. 73% of those
responding to our survey
said that they agreed or
strongly agreed with the
statement, “I know more
about services and
resources since I have been
coming to the Senior
Center.”
Social Services Available in English,
Spanish and Russian
PTSCC is here to help
older adults maintain their
independence at home
and to take control of
their health. The Social
Services staff helps clients
access benefits in English,
Spanish and Russian.
These benefits include
State, Federal and local
programs such as Public
Aid, SNAP, Medicaid,
LIHEAP, Benefits
Access, Prescription
Plans, Citizenship,
Naturalization, and
Translation. Home visits
are available. Services are
also offered at the
Community Resource
Center and other
community locations.
Our Social Services
staff saved the older
adults meeting with them
during Medicare Part D
(Prescription Drug) Open
Enrollment $78,000! One
couple was able to save
$6,000 per year because
our staff contacted the
pharmaceutical company
to obtain the wife's
medication free based on
their income.
The Social Services
Department also includes
the Caring Hearts Adult
Day Services Program,
which engages older adults
with mild to moderate
memory loss in structured
activities, provides
opportunities for
socialization, exercise and
lunch, and gives those
caring for them a break.

Café Party
Home Delivered Meals
Nutritious food for those who need
help staying in their homes
Every weekday,
volunteer drivers deliver
hot, nutritionally balanced
noon meals to older adults
who cannot prepare meals
because of illness or
disability. Some have just
been released from the
hospital and will only
receive meals for a short
time. Others have been on
the program for many
years. The thing they all
have in common is the
desire to live independently
in their own homes for as
long as possible.
When asked for
feedback about the service,
one home delivered meals
recipient wrote: “Thank
you for the meals. They
are very welcome and
helpful.” 76% of those
surveyed said, “I eat a
healthier variety of food
since I started receiving
home delivered meals.”
95% reported that
receiving home delivered
meals helped them
continue to live in their
own home, and 57% said
the program helps them
eat less high-fat and salty
foods.
