The hymn by Charles Wesley, “Christ the Lord is Risen Today,” was written one year after John Wesley’s Aldersgate experience. This hymn was written for the first service of worship in the original London chapel of Methodism, The Foundry. The Foundry was a deserted iron works foundry that became a place of worship. This picture of an abandoned building being reused for worship is a marvelous resurrection picture of our lives in Christ. Sin and life have often abandoned us to the ravages of time, yet God in Christ died and rose again so that our lives might have purpose and meaning. The Apostle Paul expressed it well when he wrote, “God makes all things new!” To this our hearts resound like Wesley’s hymn, “Hallelujah!” Easter Blessings, Jon Come Celebrate the Glorious Resurrection of Our Savior! 6:30 am Sunrise Service Light breakfast to follow 9:00 am Traditional Worship 10:00 am Sunday School 11:00 am Contemporary Worship Upcoming Church Activities Food Bank Work Day Wednesday, April 3 8:00 am Ladies of Grace - UMW Thursday, April 4:00 pm in Library Food Bank Work Day Thursday, April 11 6:00 pm Crop for Ministries - Scrapbooking April 12—14 Contact church office for more information. Each week we will work preparing for the weekend of May 5 using the Lemonade Day program as a means to learn what it means to share God’s blessings with others. Lemonade Day teaches children how to operate and run a business using the concept of a lemonade stand. During the weekend of May 5, we will operate our lemonade stand at the Upward Soccer games as well as on campus for church services. Zoe Children’s Ministry only works if we have parents and volunteers to lead each week. Please contact Pastor Shawn to find out how you can help minister to our children. Visit www.lemonadeday.org for more information about this unique program. CONFIRMATION Confirmation classes will begin this month. Anyone interested in being involved should contact Pastor Shawn or Kayla Ray immediately. Confirmation is that time in our children’s lives when they accept responsibility for their faith and become members of our church. We will celebrate Confirmation on Sunday, September 8. All of our girl’s bunks are full for Pine Cove Camp in April. However, we have plenty of spots open in the BOYS’ cabin. We leave for our camp Friday, April 19 in the afternoon and return Sunday, April 21. If your son or grandson would like to visit this great camp, please come by the church office and sign up! We are so blessed to be a member of such a loving and caring church family and thank God for all of you. God Bless You, Barbara Henson Dear FUMC Congregation, Thank you all so much for attending the Scout Sunday service this past month. The scouts and I had fun getting to put together the service, getting speaking parts, and even singing to the congregation at the end. Also, your generous donations helped our troop raise a total of $632.75, which we plan to use toward the expense of summer camp in the Smokey Mountains. Once again, we would like to thank you all for attending the Scout Sunday service and we hope to see you all again next year! Yours in Scouting, Brooks Joiner Boy Scout Troop 66 Thank you to those who were able to help with Spring Cleaning at the church and thank you to Cherie Henderson for organizing the day! Easter Baskets for CASA Children On behalf of the I Love Lucie Group, I would like to say Thank You to the congregation for all your love and support towards CASA. With your help we were able to make 130 Easter Baskets for the children this year!!! Though we can’t list all your names in this newsletter, just know that we truly appreciate all of you so very much for your act of kindness. May God bless you always! Kathi Reeves
