Universidad Icesi, in association with the A.B. Freeman
School of Business at Tulane University, offers a program
that combines on-campus courses and three international
study-abroad experiences in the United States, France,
and China.
This is an innovative program in Colombia, and one of the
best programs of its kind in Latin America. It provides

Tulane University is one of the leading private research institutions in
the United States, accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award Bachelor's,
Master's and Doctoral degrees.
The A. B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University was
established in 1914 and is a founding member of AACSB, the premier
accrediting body for collegiate schools of business. Today, the Freeman
School is a leading, internationally recognized business school with
more than 2,500 students in programs spanning the globe.
The Freeman School is consistently listed among the nation's best
business schools by publications including U.S. News & World
Report, BusinessWeek, Forbes, Financial Times, and América
Economía. In the 2016 edition of U.S. News & World Report Best
Colleges Ranking, Tulane was ranked No. 41 among the best national
universites.
Through innovative offerings such as the nationally acclaimed
Burkenroad Reports equities research program, the Darwin Fenner
student-managed fund, the Tulane Business Plan Competition, the
Tulane Energy Trading Competition, and the Global MBA program,
Freeman combines a rigorous academic grounding with practical
real-world experience.
Icesi is a private university that was founded in 1979 by local business
leaders, who have since contributed significantly to Icesi’s initiatives
by providing financial, institutional, and networking support.
Icesi has a commitment to quality and excellence in teaching.
Evidence of this includes the fact that our University and all our
eligible undergraduate programs are accredited by the Ministry of
Education's National Board of Accreditation (CNA).
The business school has established an extensive network of contacts
with other prestigious institutions and universities from around the
globe. The University is a member of the Business Association for
Latin American Studies (BALAS), the International Association of
Universities (NAFSA), the Latin American Council of Administration
Schools (CLADEA), and the European Foundation for Management
Development (EFMD).
The Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas y Económicas is nationally
recognized for its academic excellence. This is a function of our highly
selective admissions process, our rigorous academic programs, faculty
scholarship, modern and cutting-edge infrastructure, the success of
our alumni, and the faculty and Dean’s leadership locally, nationally,
and internationally.
Design of our
MBA program
In order to maintain our leading position in Colombia, and to continue offering a
world-class program that can remain relevant in the future, we designed our MBA. To this
end, we visited the business schools at Yale, Stanford, Harvard, and other universities, and
attended several international events. Through these activities, we gained first-hand
insight into the most important innovations taking place among world-class business
schools. Thus, in designing the MBA, we adapted current best practices from around the
world to our local environment and built a uniquely innovative program for Colombian
business leaders.
The MBA focuses on four components: The leader, Global Environment, Organization, and
Business. Such a leader should understand and use the analytical tools required to run an
Organization (statistics, accounting, economics), develop the skills related to the
functional areas of Business (finance, marketing, operations, and human resources), and
acquire a thorough understanding of the Global Environment (economic and political
environment, legal and social responsibility, international experience) where he or she
works.

Academic experience in three continents
Studies at Tulane University in United States
At the end of their first year, our students spend
two weeks in New Orleans, United States, where
they attend Global Environment of Business, New
Venture Creation, and Global Business Simulation
Project courses taught by Tulane University
faculty. They also visit companies and attend
lectures on business trends.
Studies in France and China
At the end of their second year, students travel
to Paris for two weeks and Beijing for one week
to attend courses on Topics in International
Management and Cross Cultural Management.
Besides attending these courses, students visit
companies, institutions, and Colombia’s
diplomatic delegations.
New Orleans
Paris
Students are responsible for taking care of their
visa application procedures. Universidad Icesi
provides assistance with the visa application
procedures, but it does not guarantee that the
visa will be issued.

Why should you pursue
an MBA
Because professionals need to be prepared to face the challenges of the environment they work in.
Today the world is moving faster, and has fewer barriers than ever before. There are a large number of
opportunities for organizations to sell their products and services in other markets, find different supply
sources, and have access to a wide range of options to establish alliances.
Organizations are looking for qualified leaders with an MBA degree. There are more and more professionals
with a great potential for executive development who are interested in complementing their
undergraduate education with a top-notch Master in Business Administration program such as the
ones being offered by Icesi and Tulane University.
Networking
The process of selection of students to the program ensures the formation of groups with a valuable
professional diversity, with a high potential of development and with whom you can develop an important
"networking". Participants have a minimum of 3 years professional experience ( the average being 9 years),
contributing to enrich the learning.
International
Accreditations
In 2015, the MBA program was re-accredited for 5 years
by AMBA (Association of MBAs), Europe's leading
accrediting organization for business schools, based in
London. Worldwide, there are only 225 business schools
with their MBA accredited, 34 in Latin America, and only
5 in Colombia.
In February 2014, The Facultad de Ciencias
Administrativas y Económicas obtained accreditation
from the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate
School of Business). This organization, founded in the
U.S. in 1916 by universities like Harvard, Columbia and
Yale, only accredits the best business schools in the world.
These accreditations guarantee the student an education
that meets the highest standards of quality. For the
graduate, they guarantee to hold the title of a Master's
program that is highly recognized by national and
international employers, as well as headhunters.
Applied Graduation Project
For the final graduation project, students can do a strategic plan or a
business plan. Alternatively, they have the choice of carrying out their
graduation project by joining the research team of one of the professors
at Icesi. At the beginning of the third semester, students are assigned
a professor who will guide them through their project.
The business plan is prepared with the guidance of the CDEE (Center
for the Development of Entrepreneurial Spirit), which is internationally
known for providing top-quality coaching to new entrepreneurs. This
Center has received numerous distinguished awards and recognitions,
including The Best Educational Program in Entrepreneurship Outside
of United States, awarded by The Association for Small Business and
Entrepreneurship in the USA.
Through case studies,
simulations, and experiential
activities, students are
constantly encouraged to play an
active role in their learning
process.
Courses in
,
Cali and Bogota
Students who live in Bogotá will take classes
with local professors in that city. For classes
given in Colombia by professors from Tulane
University and other foreign universities,
they will travel to the campus of Universidad
Icesi in Cali. The cost of the airfare for
traveling from Bogotá to Cali on
approximately three weekends per semester
is included in the tuition fee. Students must
pay for their own traveling expenses.
Classes in Cali:
Meet every two 2 weeks, on Fridays from
3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Saturdays
from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Classes in Bogotá:
Meet every two 2 weeks, on Fridays from
2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays
from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Faculty
The MBA program relies on a team of
Colombian and foreign professors who
possess a sterling academic
background and vast experience as
business consultants and managers.
