Kings Newsletter Trm2wk4 20120430 PARENTS NEWSLETTER TERM 2 WEEK 4 30 April 2012 Dear Kings Christian School Community, Our students who participated did exceptionally well and obtained two ‗Gold‘s‘, and two third places. The students had a lot of fun and came back with great memories, many stories to tell and a lot more confidence! I am sure the next group of students are looking forward to attending the 2013 Junior Convention! This month we also have the Chicken braai, and tickets and further instructions will be sent out to parents shortly. Playschool Parents: Please remember to supply a small A5 ‗communication’ book for your child, if not done so already! In this book, the playschool staff are able to communicate important events and requests to parents, such as the recent request to bring food items to school for ‗cultural food‘ week. Please also check and sign the book everyday. Playschool immunizations take place on Friday and forms need to be handed back to the school office as soon as possible. We have also done a ‗test-run‘ on sending bulk-SMS’s to parents. Please advise the school office if you want any of your mobile numbers removed from the notification system. Please remember to send a copy of your child‘s birth certificate, and in the case of foreign students, passport details, if you have not done so already. KINGS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL _________ __ Connecting I have had many students and parents asking about the Western Cape Junior Convention feedback. Well, here it is! Have a blessed week filled with health and joy! Mrs Marlies McCarthy Principal SERVE WITH LOVE LOVE TO SERVE ______________ ―For I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me a drink. I was lonely and you made me welcome. I was naked and you clothed me. I was ill and you came and looked after me. I assure you, that whatever you did for the humblest of my brothers, you did for me‖. Kings Newsletter Trm2wk4 20120430 JUNIOR CONVENTION- BERGKROON WELLINGTON (More photos are available on our FACEBOOK page.) Our students had a wonderful time in Wellington amidst the beauty of the surrounding mountains and the wonders of nature, with tame Springbuck nonchalantly strolling around the campsite, a few fluffy sheep, 2 large lazy pot-belly pigs, a very friendly cow, a pregnant, hungry and cheeky nanny-goat, who accosted unsuspecting students in the lunch-queue for food! And then there where lots of chickens and roosters with their little chicks perched in the strangest of places, such as the dining hall, and of course, plenty of opportunity to experience God‘s creation in all is beauty and Glory. A big THANK YOU to the organisers as well as the Bergkroon staff for a wonderful convention! 'Leonardo' Tshona at work..... Uzusiphe Tshona came home with the Gold medal and trophy in the ‗Improvisation Art‘ category, (which ALL convention students had to participate in). Too fast for the camera! Hannah Robinson did not allow any obstacles to get in her way, and received a Gold medal for the fastest girl in the ‗Obstacle Course‘ race, with a time of 3.17min, compared to 3.13min for the fastest boy! Well done to both students! Kings Newsletter Trm2wk4 20120430 CONVENTION - CONTD. Alistair Otto received third placing for ‗Improvisation Art‘. I am convinced that our results in the Art division can be attributed to, not only their God-given natural talent, but also the excellent input Hanna Naude has been instilling into our students during their weekly art classes at Kings. And finally, our Choir (Venus Hillairet, Bronwyn Whelan, Takia Strydom, Hannah Robinson and Michanne Baker) received third placing in the ‗Vocal Group‘ category. And then of course, there was just FUN and lots of pillow-fighting! Junior Convention Team leaving , with Pastor Roy Mrs Robinson survived the Convention! Kings Newsletter Trm2wk4 20120430 HONOUR ROLL TRIP LOVERS WALK AND WATERFALL Guess who? It’s great to be honoured! Attaaaaaack!! REWARD!!! Attaaaaaack!! 1 The slightly more adventurous..... The intrepid Bush-Guide! The Intermediate and Senior classes had a lovely Honour Roll day, with a picnic at the Badkloof braai area near ‗Lovers Walk‘. Some of the more adventurous seniors embarked on a hike through the beautiful Kloof to the waterfall, for a quick ‗dip‘, while attempting to identify plants and animals on the way there and back! Wouldn‘t a ‗hiking group‘ be a good thing to start? The day ended back at the school hall with a video, lollipops and delicious hot chocolate! (More photos available on Kings Facebook page)
