Kathy and I are both involved in ministry at Mountain View Baptist every week. She works in our office processing the incoming missionary support so Daniel, our office manager can handle the payout side. A couple of weeks ago we had the privilege of serving together at Camp Utibaca along with another ministry couple, Bob and Penny Toomer. Kath and Penny did the cooking for the camp, Bob taught horsemanship and I got to preach to the campers twice a day. Bob and I stayed on for a second week of camp. While there, we rejoiced to see two young men come to trust Christ as Savior and we are continuing to pray for a couple of others that have not yet made that step of faith. I thank God for this faithful partner in the work. She carries a heavy load of ministry while still managing to care for the home and has a wonderful ministry of hospitality. This verse has proved to be so true with me: “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.” Proverbs 18:22 We are making plans for our recruiting trip in the fall. We will be leaving just after our Fellowship meeting at the end of September. It looks like we will be driving this year as we have many stops to make and it gives us greater flexibility with our schedule. Please pray for safety on the trip and especially that we would make contact with new missionary/church planters to start new works and fill pulpits of existing churches in the West. At this year’s fellowship meeting we will be meeting at Grace Baptist in Elko. It will be our 45th fellowship meeting and Grace Baptist’s 30th anniversary. It will be a special time to return to this church where we served for 13 years and both of our sons have served. Our ‘children in the ministry’ Aaron and Joy Young now serve this ministry and we are anxious to share these days of fellowship with them. Special thanks to Grace for their faithful support and encouragement to us over these many years of ministry. Plan to join us for these couple of days of being encouraged by the Lord. Our speaker this year is a Western Evangelist, Monte Leavell. He and his wife, Jeneen have served both in the pastorate and in evangelism throughout the West and understand the uniqueness of this part of the world. This week, the Clapps and Tidds, NBM and BMM missionaries respectively, will be helping with a weekend of Hispanic camp at Utibaca. They are expecting around 150 to attend. Shawn and Penny Clapp serve as a missionary/pastor with Northwest while heading up our Hispanic outreach. They have a great burden to help all of our churches to evangelize this great mission field that God has brought to us. If you have an interest in starting an outreach to Hispanics, I would encourage you to contact them and seek their help and wisdom.
