YOUR LOCAL EVENT FINDER FOR ALACHUA COUNTY
“On Purpose: Making Your Dream A Reality”
Do you want to acquire
wealth as a social or spiritual
entrepreneur, even in this
“tough economy?” Would
you like more clarity on your
purpose and how to activate
it? Do you feel you have a
powerful message you would
like to get out into the world,
or a business you would like to
start, but you do not know how?
If you answered YES to any of
these questions, this seminar is
for you! Join Rev. Lacey Nagy
and Kylie Devi, co-founders of
ThirdEyeSpoken Productions,
for this one-time, life-changing
event, “On Purpose: Making
Your Vision a Reality.” Rev.
Lacey, Clinical Hypnotherapist
and Life Coach will teach
you the basic principles of
prosperity consciousness, living
on purpose, being consistent,
and recognizing and moving
past limitations.
Lacey has successfully
coached hundreds of people in
Gainesville into more purposeful
and profitable careers. Kylie
Devi,
online
marketing
strategist, will teach you how to
Top 5 Ab Exercises for the Obliques!
Here are my top five exercises
to work the oblique muscles
(abs on the side of your body):
1.)
Cross-Body
Mountain
Climbers
One of my favorite abdominal
exercises in general, this
provides an intense contraction
in those muscles that show up
on the beach running down
into your swimsuit. These
are eye-catching muscles.
2.) Kettlebell or Dumbbell
Renegade
Rows
It doesn’t matter if you use
a kettlebell or flat/hexagonal
dumbbells for this one, the
renegade row requires an
intense abdominal contraction
to maintain proper form.
3.) Spiderman Push-ups &
Spiderman Climb Push-ups
In the past 5 years, these
exercises have become more
popular in the fitness world.
Although they are a pushup variation, they work your
oblique muscles extra hard.
4.) High-Rep Dumbbell Rows
This is another “non-ab exercise.”
But high-rep dumbbell rows
done with perfect form and a
challenging weight will give
you tremendous soreness the
next day.
NOTE: I should mention
that all the best personal trainers
now understand that the purpose
of your abdominals is NOT to
violently twist and crunch your
torso, but instead to hold it
straight and stable, RESISTING
the rotation that “out of touch”
personal trainers are telling you
to do.
So with these exercises,
not only are you getting a set
of amazing abs and oblique
muscles, but you’re also saving
your back and neck from the
pain that comes with crunches
and sit-ups. Please stop doing
crunches and sit-ups - they
are dangerous and ineffective!
5.) Kettlebell (hands on
handle) or Stability Ball CrossBody Mountain Climbers
Finally, an advanced version
of the regular cross-body
mountain climber. This adds
more upper body work but still
does a number on your oblique

muscles and your six-pack abs.
Honorable
Mentions:
a.) Planks, Stability Ball
Planks, & Side Planks
Not exciting but quite effective.
If you think these are “too
easy,” you’re not doing them
right. Research shows side
planks to be more effective
for your oblique muscles than
many traditional crunches.
b.) Hanging Leg Raises
& Chin-ups + Knee-ups
These are advanced movements,
but they work your “lower abs”
- and your lower abdominals
are, as Dr. McGill explains,
where your oblique muscles
insert onto the iliac crest. So
that’s why these are great
oblique exercises as well.
c.)
Stability
Ball
Jackknives
&
Stability
Ball Jackknife Rotations
These are similar to the
cross-body mountain climber
variations, although both legs
move up together.
Again, words just can’t
do these exercises justice, and,
unfortunately, I can’t fly to
everyone’s house to take you
through a workout. However, you
can join Underground Fitness

Message from Michelle:
November is a great
month. For me, it is a month
filled with birthdays and
Thanksgiving! Also it is
awareness month for many
things, such as diabetes,
skin, tobacco, disabilities,
Alzheimer’s, March of Dimes
for premature babies, National
Hospice,
epilepsy,
and
awareness to prevent blindness.
The list goes on. All these things
rolled together come in the same
month as Thanksgiving. Why
do you think that is?
My thought is that it gives
people the realization they need
to be thankful! Thankful that
perhaps your family has not
been hit with these issues and
that your family is healthy and
well; thankful that you helped
with any of these fundraising
events. Perhaps be thankful that
your family has made it through
the hard times you went through
in your fight against any of these
or perhaps other issues.
Sometimes we take
people we love or people we
work with for granted. We may
not realize it. Sometimes, I do it
and not realize it. I go on with my
everyday routine and not think
twice about it. Then it will hit
me, what if something happened
to any one of the people I love?
Then I run up to them and hug
them and tell them how very
thankful I am to have them in
my life. Even small things, I
try hard to say “thank you” and
“that looks great”, or “I’m so
happy and proud to have you in
my life”.
If not for my husband,
I would not be able to do half
the things I do. He takes care of
me behind the scenes. Without
my best friend I would not be
able to get this paper together in
time. Without my sales people I
wouldn’t have a paper. Without
my kids I wouldn’t have
memories and laughter and
many other joys they bring to
my life. So again I say THANK
YOU to everyone in my life.
I put being thankful and
Karma hand in hand, a lot of the
time. I feel they are the same.
If a person walks through life
thinking everyone else is going
to take care of everything else
while they push forward to do
what they want without being
thankful to those around them,
they will eventually fall flat on
their face.
There comes Karma!
Take the time everyday and be
thankful for everyone in your
life.

More About Itchy Dogs
With
the
weather
changing and cooling off, some
dogs get relief from the summer
scratching, biting and chewing.
But not everyone! So here are
a few things to think about as
winter approaches.
One of the biggest
questions I get is: “Why is my
dog scratching?” And “What is
my dog allergic to?” There are
3 main categories of things dogs
are allergic to.
#1 is fleas!
#2 is food
#3 is everything else in the
environment like pollen, dust
and grasses
When veterinarians try
to figure out the answer we
go through a sort of checklist.
Many of you have experienced
this with me in the clinic and
it can be confusing. So let’s
simplify it- Take this easy test
and see if you can narrow down
what your dog might be allergic
to:
1. Does your dog scratch
all year round? Then it is not
All Around Alachua
by Cindy Rosenfeld, DVM
likely pollen or grasses
2. Does your dog have
fleas – even occasionally??? –
one flea bite can keep an allergic
dog scratching for 3 days. So
two (yes TWO) flea bites a week
can keep your dog in a constant
state of flea bite allergy.
3. What do you feed
your dog? – and this includes
everything. Their dog food,
treats, what the kids and
neighbors slip them too.
That was not so hard and
now you are focusing on what
it might be. But of course life
is never that simple. Modern
veterinary dermatology (the
study and treatment of skin
problems) now knows that
these allergies can be additive.
Maybe your dog is allergic to
pine pollen but it’s not too bad.
But then a few fleas bite him
and he’s really challenged. And
then on top of everything else
he’s allergic to the chicken or
corn or wheat in his dog food.
Now you have a full blown
scratching, biting, chewing

miserable friend.
What I hope all owners
of itchy dogs will do is start
thinking about the 3 categories
of things dogs are allergic to.
You can control the fleas and
what the dog eats. Now that you
have a better idea of the causes
of the allergic itchy skin, you
can make a change.And, it
will be one that may make a
difference and not a shot in the
dark.

Directed by Tony Mata
A musical that blends two plots,
the “real” world of a writer
attempting to convert his book
into a screenplay, and the “reel”
world of an illusory film. A
comparatively straightforward
missing daughter case becomes
something more complex, and it
keeps getting more complicated
as the author keeps rewriting it.
