Stewardship of Treasure “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (MARK 10:25) Jesus uses tough language that we may not want to hear. But, Stewardship is a calling to be generous with all our gifts. Not just the ones we pick and choose, but all our gifts: our time in prayer to God, our talent in participating in parish ministries and our treasure supporting our local parish and other charities. Autumn Events October 11 – Ministry Sunday October 25 – Pancake Breakfast Ways To Participate in the Liturgy of the Mass: 1.) Arrive a few minutes early, speak to the Lord and review the readings for the day in the missal. What is the message? 2.) Listen carefully to the Homily. 3.) The Mass is the greatest of prayers. (Liturgy means: Community Prayer of the Church.) A good time to offer your special intentions to God is during the Offertory of the Mass as well as at the time of the Consecration. (a miracle) 4.) Holy Communion- the consecrated host is both the Body and the Blood of Jesus. Take some time to speak reverently to Jesus. 5.) The priest gives the final blessing. Take this grace and “go in peace.” Spread the Lord’s teachings in words and deeds as you live through the week. Attention: We have had another unpleasant incident with the disruption of our sound/video system. No one is to touch the system other than Mary Jane Kelso, Ken Herman, Jane Staunton and Father Bill. - Fr. An Excerpt From: Reflections on the Pope’s Visit Anyone who has eyes to see, ears to hear, a mind to think and a heart to love has been touched by his example. The very least as well as the most gifted belong to God’s all inclusive love for us. He was attentive to give a blessing to every disabled person that he noticed. He came for the World Meeting of Families and emphasized the importance of the roles of marriage and family as part of God’s magnificent Plan for His Creation. Faith, Hope and Love is the true reality of God’s love for us. - Fr. Bill ~ Prayer for Pope Francis Jorge Mario Bergogli Elected Pope on March 13, 2013 Lord God, with great joy we give thanks for your faithful servant, Pope Francis. Bless our Holy Father with wisdom, zeal and The gift of governance as he guides your Church in peace and unity. May his humility, simplicity and love inspire your people to share the Good News of Jesus Christ as a light for the poor, the marginalized and all the world. Amen. (Our Sunday Visitor) Quote from Pope Francis: “We do not serve ideas, we serve people.” Page 5 - 661 St. Thomas the Apostle Parish October 11, 2015 - 28thSunday in Ordinary Time Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Classes Bulletin Announcement: Annulment Workshop On October 28th, at 7:00pm., the priests of our deanery will attend a workshop on the Annulment Process.
