PERSONAL CONVERSION
Personal conversion, through a personal relationship with Jesus, is a good thing, but it is much more than a one-time event in
our lives. The human condition is flawed and we often fall short of our good intentions.
Our relationship with Jesus is similar to those we have with other people. It requires constant and ongoing communication, giving to one another and sacrificing for each other with the common goal of always putting the beloved’s good and well being before our own. This method is to be applied to our relationship with Jesus as well, with the added worship and adoration due
Him as our Lord and Savior. Prayer is one of the most efficacious ways to communicate with our Lord. And to be with Jesus at
every moment, even short prayers, spontaneously spoken, are a very meaningful way to speak with our Lord; He is always at our
side and hears all whether it be spoken, thought or felt. Such examples include “Come Holy Spirit,” “Be with me Jesus,” or even
the Fatima Prayer of the Holy Rosary.
As Catholics, we could be no closer in a personal relationship with Jesus than when we consume His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist. In order to do so, we must purge sin from our souls in the Sacrament of Reconciliation so that we
can present ourselves in Holy Communion with our Lord as a pure offering. Many are plagued with recurring sin; and when so
many do not recognize their sinful behavior, it can have a ripple effect. This fact must urge us as Catholics to pray for the conversion of our brothers and sisters. Our Lord gave us a very effective prayer for achieving the conversion of sinners, the Chaplet
of Divine Mercy. First and foremost, we must indeed work on our own conversion as well.
Often Jesus asked St. Faustina to pray before the crucifix and say the Stations of the Cross. It is here we see what Our Lord endured for us by becoming one of us and that we, His servants, must walk this path which indeed will draw us ever closer to Our
Lord.
Frequent confession is the best path to true conversion and curing ourselves of the ills that weigh our souls down from sin and
discourage us. In essence, it is not in the falling but in the getting up that is most imperative.
Mercy in Action
This week’s Mercy in Action is for all of St. Peter Parish to pray the Prayer Before a Crucifix for personal conversion. This
powerful prayer can be found below.
Prayer before a Crucifix
Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus
while before Your face I humbly kneel and,
with burning soul,
pray and beseech You
to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments
of faith, hope, and charity;
true contrition for my sins,
and a firm purpose of amendment.
While I contemplate,
with great love and tender pity,
Your five most precious wounds,
pondering over them within me
and calling to mind the words which David,
Your prophet, said to You, my Jesus:
"They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones."
Amen.

The Cliffs of Moher
320 Million Years OLD
The Cliffs of Moher, God’s gift in nature, rise vertically to a height of 650 feet over the crashing
waves of the Atlantic Ocean. They span eight miles and are the steepest cliffs in Ireland. Ancient
rivers laid down sediments on the sea bed to form the rocks of the Cliffs of Moher which are
sandstone, siltstone and shale. The Cliffs of Moher are home to 40,000 birds from 29 different
species including puffins. Sea birds may be found and viewed along the rock shelves in the cliffs.
Over a million visitors view these extraordinary picturesque cliffs each year.

A Stewardship Moment
Ascension of the Lord
May 8, 2016
Today we celebrate the feast of the Ascension of our
Lord, a feast which, in part, celebrates the confidence
he placed in his close followers to continue his ministry. In the Gospel reading Jesus reminds his followers
of the purpose of his mission, and commissions them
to continue his work by proclaiming his word and by
living courageously that which they preached. He also
promises them the Holy Spirit who he said would
strengthen them for the task ahead. As stewards of
Jesus’ life and ministry, a good question for us to reflect on this week might be this: Has Christ’s confidence in the quality of our own witness been well
placed?
Ascension of the Lord
May 8th:
Today as we celebrate the feast of the
Ascension we are reminded that Christ’s
saving work on earth continues through
his disciples...and now through us.
When we give to the poor, God indeed pours his
love, peace and joy into our hearts, into our lives
and into the hearts of those who are poor.
May Evangelization Intention
of the Holy Father:

Quotes from Principal Michael Kraus’ weekly newsletter: April 27, 2016
Dear St. Peter Families,
Thank you all for such a terrific Party at the Pavilion! It was truly one of the best weekends of the
school year, and I know lasting memories were made for all our students and families. I want to
thank all our volunteers and chairs for the countless hours of hard work before, during and after
the event. With this event being so labor intensive, we need more people to step up for next year.
If you feel that you can help in any capacity, please let us know.
In growing closer to so many of our families over the years, I simply want to add how grateful I am to work alongside fantastic teachers and parents. We have a powerful school where the faith and family culture is overwhelmingly
evident to each and every visitor. Through good days and tough days, it is obvious that God is making Saints among us.
.... I pray you all have a great week.
God alone,
Michael Kraus
