/MI ERDANG MCA chairman Datuk Liew Yuen
Keong has urged the Subang Jaya
auf Municipal Council (MPSJ) to build road
humps in the Seri Kembangan commercial
centre to reduce accidents.
The council should work with the police to
identify accident-prone sites and dangerous
junctions," he said.
Choo Kok Man, 46, said he moved into a
shoplot along Jalan PSK4 in the commercial
area seven months ago and had so far witnessed three accidents.
"I once saw a hit-and-run accident where
the victim was an old man," he said.
Jeffrey Chan, who works as a chef at one of
the restaurants in Jalan PSK4, said he often saw
youths speeding on their motorcycles at
night.
"Some of them frequent the cybercafes in
the area. I have noticed that there are fewer
accidents in Jalan PSK 8 where road humps
have been built," he said.
The council should work
with the police to identify
accident-prone sites and
dangerous junctions.
- DATUK LIEW YUEN KEONG
Seri Kembangan Federal Village Security
and Development Committee chairman Tang
Kim Loy said he would write to MPSJ on this
matter.
Meanwhile, Liew said the Health Ministry
has given the green light for a 1 Malaysia clinic
to be set up in Seri Kembangan.
"This will benefit the poor as some find it
inconvenient to seek treatment at the polyclinic in Taman Muhibbah.
"We are looking for suitable shoplots. The
clinic is scheduled to begin operations by the
end of this year," he said, adding that 1 Malaysia
clinics were presently available in Sri Pulai,
Balakong, Taman Lestari Perdana and Bandar
Putra Permai.

OR the fasting month, Ramadan
bazaars have sprung up in residential areas and commercial
centres throughout the Mang Valley.
There are 26 Ramadan bazaars
under the Subang Jaya Municipal
Council's IMPS)), with the biggest
being the one in 5518. Subang Jaya.
The 5618 bazaar used to be bigger
with 200 lots previously.The number
of lots was reduced to facilitate traffic flow after residents complained
about the congestion in the area due
to the LAT construction worlcs.
However, the atmosphere remains
lively and traders normally set up
their stalls as early .4pm.
Besides the regular favourites like
ayam percik naSi lemak and nazi
briyani, there are • also interesting
creations like the baked potatoes by
trader Mohd Razali Jaafar and his
wife Faidha Azween Zakaria
"The potatoes are cut in half and
stuffed with different fillings and
topped with cheese. We wrap the
potato in aluminium foil and grill it
over a fire.
"Malaysians can't make do without some spice in their food so the
meat is cooked with some spires and
herbs to give it that extra flavour,"
explained Razali, 33, who usually
sells the potatoes at the farmers
market (prier tent) in Shah Alain.
Among the flavours that Razali has
created are Cheesy Cheese, Cheesy
Beef, Cheesy Chien, Cheesy Chien
Mushroom. Cheesy Beef Mushroom
and Smoky Chien Sausage which is
priced at RM4 each
"We have created 20 flavours but
we rotate every few days,' he said.
Trader Noor Hasni Yusof, 32, was
seen preparing the ingredients for
the kerabu (Thai salad) that she was
selling.
`Our speciality is the raw papaya
and mango kembu. Each packet costs
RIM4 and the sauce is packed separately on that customers can mix it
just before they eat it" she said.
The tangy salad also contains long
beans, tomatoes and crushed peanuts, making it an appetising starter
to break fast with
MPS) health and enforcement
officers were also seen at the bazaar
as they conducted checks to ensure
food operators had been given the
typhoid vaccination,
Senior licensing assistant director
Muhammad MI Miswan said those
without the proper vaccination certification would be issued a compound
starting from RMSO.
"The amount will be higher for
repeat offenders. We will also check
on bazaars daily to ensure that traders are not renting out their lots to
other people," said Azli.
SubanglayaassemblyMan Hannah
Yeoh also visited the bazaar on the
first day of Ramadan to ensure the
traffic situation was under control
"MPSJ has assigned 15 enforcement officers to manage the traffic
daily. Residents within this area have
been given car stickers so that only
those living here are allowed to enter
certain roads," said Yeoh.
She also advised customers patronising the bazaar to be considerate
and not park in front of residents'
houses.
