That makes it so much more important to revitalise contaminated areas using innovative technologies. Funds are available from regional and EU funding budgets for the clean-up of hazardous waste and for surface area recycling. TECHNOLOGIES FOR PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT We have been involved in combining economic progress and environmental protection for more than 25 years. Interdisciplinary teams constantly develop innovative products and services that are outstandingly cost-effective. This results in more than 2,000 realised projects worldwide. OUR SKILLS FOR YOUR SAFETY We make former dump sites and derelict industrial land usable once again and clean-up the resulting environmental damage. Contaminated soil is removed and treated, waste is separated and disposed of, contaminated groundwater is purified, oil phases are skimmed off. For asbestos clean-up, we stick to the Technical Rules, which means clean-up zones in buildings are sealed off against dust, equipped with access locks, and cleaned under low pressure. 3 4 Construction site water purification, Ramstein (Germany) Construction water treatment for Katzen- bergtunnel, Efringen-Kirchen (Germany) 3 4 CONTACT ZÜBLIN Umwelttechnik GmbH Otto-Duerr-Str. 13 70435 Stuttgart Tel. +49 711 8202-0 Fax +49 711 8202-154 umwelttechnik@zueblin.de www.zueblin-umwelttechnik.com 09 www.strabag-umwelttechnik.com 1 1 Drive of agitators, LARAN® Plug Flow Digester, dry digestion process, Lechfeld (Germany) RENEWABLE ENERGY SERVICES BIOGAS – CLEAN AND SUSTAINABLE •Biogas generation from a variety of input materials •Biogas utilisation for combined heat and power plants •Treatment of Biogas up to a quality of natural or fuel gas An increasing number of biogas plants are being established, especially in regions dominated by agriculture. They have multiple benefits: They support the disposal of organic waste produced by people and animals, they promote agricultural production and produce energy in a clean way. BIOGAS GENERATION FROM A VARIETY OF INPUT MATERIALS Wet digestion in a LARAN® LOOP REACTOR is recommended wherever liquid manure, sewage sludge, leftover food or mash accrue. Dry digestion in the LARAN® PLUG FLOW REACTOR is suitable for mono-digestion of renewable raw materials or for the digestion of solid dung. The LARAN® FIXED BED REACTOR or the LARAN® UASB REACTOR technologies, which were developed through the innovativeness of our employees, are recommended for recycling organically highly contaminated, low-solids wastewater. BIOGAS UTILISATION IN COMBINED HEAT AND POWER PLANTS To supply buildings and plants with energy that is produced locally, we create the technical conditions for converting biogas into electricity and heat by means of gas engines and gas turbines. TREATMENT OF BIOGAS UP TO A QUALITY OF NATURAL OR FUEL GAS Biogas can also be used as a vehicle fuel or fed into the natural gas grid. This requires treatment through which carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide are removed in favour of a higher concentration of methane. 2 Sludge treatment plant with digestion, Brest (Belarus) 2 CONTACT STRABAG Umweltanlagen GmbH Lingnerallee 3 01069 Dresden Tel. +49 351 26359-3122 Fax +49 351 26359-4826 umweltanlagen@strabag.com www.strabag-umweltanlagen.com 11 www.strabag-umwelttechnik.com 1 1 Thermal waste treatment plant, Linz (Austria) RENEWABLE ENERGY SERVICES Efficient combustion •Industrial power plants •Waste incineration plants •Sewage sludge incineration plants •Decentralised biomass combined heating and power plants The combustion of biogenic residue and alternate fuels represents a CO2-neutral way of obtaining energy. The SETCIA fluidised bed technology is a special, highly efficient combustion method. With its help, a broad spectrum of fuels can be converted into electricity and heat energy. SETCIA – INNOVATIVE FLUIDISED BED COMBUSTION SYSTEM Fluidised bed systems are used in technical processes such as, for example, drying processes, chemical reactions or in the field of energy conversion – above all in power plant technology. Through the further development of this combustion technology, STRABAG Energy Technologies has made a decisive contribution to improving the efficiency and environmental compatibility of fluidised bed systems. Through multi-stage cleaning processes, it is possible to reduce the amount of pollutants considerably. By using filters, absorption and adsorption processes as well as catalysts, the sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and soot particles are removed and the quality of the escaping exhaust air is improved. SETNOx, SCR-DeNOx Systems STRABAG offers individual, economical solutions for stationary emission sources. The focus is on retrofitting SETNOx-SCR plants for coal-fired power plants and industrial processes. After we have clarified all the boundary conditions, we develop an efficient measures plan, which is very cost-effective. This includes the planning and construction of reactors with catalysts as well as their management and regeneration. The range of services is completed with the storage and preparation of reducing agents. SETSorp, Multi-stage flue gas treatment To remove pollutants, we offer the SETSorp process, a conditioned dry process, half-dry process as well as a two-stage wet scrubbing process. The half-dry and wet flue gas scrubbing are used to separate acidic components that arise from recycling residual materials from municipalities or industry. For NOx reduction and desulphurisation plants that work based on the SNOXTM process developed in cooperation with Haldor Topsoe A/S, STRABAG provides both the engineering services as well as the components. 2 SNOX OMV refinery, Schwechat (Austria) 2 CONTACT STRABAG AG Rauchgasreinigung Min Chuan East Rd. For the poor in the world, however, these necessities are still a luxury. More than 1.1 billion people do not have access to drinking water, while there is a lack of basic hygiene for 2.6 billion people. The shocking outlook is that by the year 2050, one quarter of the world’s population will most likely be threatened by a chronic or partial lack of water. Against this background arises the task of attributing the highest priority to protecting and purifying water as a natural resource. WASTEWATER • Industrial and municipal sewage treatment plants • Pumping stations CLEAN WATER – OUR MISSION We are one of the world‘s leading companies for the planning, construction and operation of water/wastewater treatment plants. We make our know-how in protecting the environment and improving the basis for life available worldwide. Our customers include both municipalities as well as industry.
