REGISTRATION: We want to welcome your child to our programs. You will need to register for these events either in person, by phone (631) 499-3722 or online at www.elwoodlibrary.org. Registration will begin Wednesday, June 4th at 9:30am. If your registered child is unable to attend, please call us. Thank you. PHOTOS: Staff may take photographs at library programs for use in library publicity. This includes but is not limited to: the library’s Facebook page, Flickr, and the power-point slides on the TV located in the library. Please inform us if you do not want photos taken of you or your child. Infants and Toddlers 3-23 months Babies Boogie Tuesday, July 1st, 10:15-11:00am Clap your hands, stomp your feet, and sing along with Nicole Sparling for this wonderful movement class featuring instruments and music from around the world. Doodle Art Tuesday, July 8th 6:30-7:30pm With the Zentangle method of doodling, anyone can create beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is easy to learn and fun to do- so join us. Grades: 44-5 Jewelry with Jill 6-17 months Baby Steps Wednesday, June 25th, 10:30-11:00am Tuesday, July 15th, 10:30-11:00am Engage in interactive infant play with age appropriate materials. Enjoy meeting other parents/caregivers and their children from our community. Thursday, July 23rd, 3:00-4:30pm Wednesday, August 20th, 3:00-4:30pm Elwood Library’s own Jill Davidson will help you make beautiful jewelry. All the materials will be supplied – so come join us! Families Twinkling Stars Wednesday, June 18th 10:30-11:00am Wednesday, July 23rd, 10:30-11:00am Nursery rhymes are big part of Early Literacy. Come join us for a half hour of nursery rhymes and some finger plays. Grins and Grins Show Saturday, June 21st, 12:00-1:00pm Kickoff the summer reading program with a great show that will have you laughing. Afterwards, sign up for the summer reading program! 6-35 months Grades: KK-5 Paperweight Rocks Saturday, June 14th, 3:00-3:45pm Just in time for Father’s Day, come decorate a special gift for dad. Lego Fun Tuesday, July 1st, 4:30-5:00pm Use your creativity as you join us for some Lego fun. We’ll provide the Legos, you do the building. Super Structures Tuesday, July 15th, 4:15-4:45pm Using just mini marshmallows and toothpicks come build a 3-D structure of your own design. Grades: 33-5 Glee Thursdays, June 19th- July 31st 4:00-5:00pm Does your child like to sing and dance? If so, join Dream Makers Performing Arts for seven weeks to learn some pop songs that will be performed in a showcase for friends and family after the final class. You need to be able to attend ALL the weekly classes in order to sign up. Decorate a Backpack Monday, June 30th, 6:30-7:00pm Get ready for the beach by decorating a backpack to keep all your stuff in. Mother Goose and More Monday, June 16th, 6:30-7:00pm Tuesday, July 8th, 4:30-5:00pm Sing songs, rhymes and fingerplays with your infant or toddler. 1212-30 months Tiny Tunes Tuesday, July 22nd, 10:30-11:00am This program includes songs, chants, and finger plays that you know and love. 1818-35 months Toddlers Explore Tuesday, June 10th, 10:30-11:00am Join us for interactive fun. Toddlers explore different hands-on stations and see what they like best. Do they lay eggs? Let’s read stories about cows that did those silly things and make a cow craft to take home. My Dad is the Best Thursday, June 12th, 4:15-4:45pm Father’s Day is nearing, so come down to the library to listen to some stories and make something for your special dad, grandpa, or uncle. Flower Garden Tuesday, June 24th, 10:30-11:00am Spring and Summer are the best time of the year for flowers. Come listen to the story Flower Garden by Eve Bunting, and make your own garden craft to take home. Shape Robot Grades: KK-4 Me and My Dad Tuesday, June 10th, 5:00-5:45pm Doreen and Ellen are here to help you design a special wall hanging with love and creativity that captures your memorable moments with Dad. Sid the Science Kid Friday, July 11th, 11:00-11:45am Learning about Science can be fun with Sid the Science Kid. Listen to a story and create something special with Doreen and Ellen. Monday, July 7th, 10:30-11:00am Let’s create an awesome robot that will help you recognize shapes. Magic Tree House: High Tide in Hawaii Firefly Thursday, August 7th, 2:00-2:45pm Join Jack and Annie on a Hawaiian adventure with Doreen and Ellen. A special craft completes the fun. Thursday, July 17th, 10:30-11:00am Let’s read about a firefly searching for friends and create one to bring home. I Scream for Ice Cream Thursday, July 31st, 10:30-11:15am July is National Ice Cream month. Come on down to the library, to enjoy some stories, and an ice cream craft. 3-7 years old Summer Bingo Monday, July 14th, 3:00-3:45pm Hooray- it’s time to play Summer Bingo again! Find four in a row and yell “Bingo.” Preschool 18 monthsmonths- 5 years old Hip Hop Frog SchoolSchool-Aged Grades: KK-2 Acting it Out Thursdays, June 19th- July 31st, 5:15-6:15pm Do you like to act? We will have some movement activities, songs, and a craft to take home. 2-4 years old Young at Art Monday, July 21st, 10:30-11:00am According to Picasso, “all children are artists.” Let’s give your child a chance to experiment with color, texture and design through various materials. 2-5 years old Kool Aid Painting Toddler Tango Wednesday, July 9th, 4:15-4:45pm Dress for a little mess as we get ready for a kool-Aid summer and get our hands dirty. Foam Dough Monday, July 21st, 4:15-4:45pm If you like getting a little dirty and having fun, come and make your own dough to take home. You will be surprised by the ingredients. Dress for a little mess! Outer Space Art Stations Wednesday, July 30th, 4:15-4:45pm Art Stations with stickers, stampers and stencils will help us explore some outer space fun. Backyardigans: Riding the Range Thursday, August 7th, 1:00-1:45pm Howdy Partner! Join the Backyardigans on a western backyard adventure and make some wild western crafts with Doreen and Ellen.
