Martucci, PC Tony Amodio Rosette Printing LLC Executive Director Gail Croson I want to thank all of you that came out for our annual Breakfast meeting at Brunch Café. We were educated on Property Taxes, that topic that seems to be one that no one completely understands, by our speaker, John Dabrowski, Bloomingdale Township Assessor. I would like to remind you again that the Board authorized reducing the cost of each meeting by $5 per person by underwriting that cost for the remainder of the year. Please take advantage of that offer. Another reminder, we are still accepting underwriters for the Fourth of July Fireworks display that the Chamber is sponsoring for the Village this year. Please Contact Gail at the Chamber office for more information. We also had one of our four New Member Breakfasts at Roselle Bank & Trust. I really think these are so important in helping recruit new members to the chamber. It’s a great way to let people know how we can help them grow their business and how the Chamber can benefit them. It isn’t overwhelming and allows for a lot of questions and discussions. If you’ve been away from Chamber as an In-active member, please feel free to call Gail and come back and see how we can work together. Last but not least, I want to thank all the members that showed up at Associated Bank Roselle for our monthly Business After Hours. Lori Larsen and her Staff were great. I know we all enjoy the food catered from Elena’s. We had 2 members win raffle prizes provided by the Bank. Dr. Kristen Langner won a bottle of Lynfred wine along with an Associated Bank hat. Member Joe Sbertoli also won, receiving a $25 Gift Certificate. I look forward to seeing you all at the Annual Golf Outing on Wednesday, May 11th. This is our biggest fund raiser of the year and is the first, and best, Golf Outing in the area. Come out, enjoy the day either golfing or volunteering. It is always a great day! Terrence D. Member businesses who have applied to participate as an entry will discover our parade is a great way to promote your business to the hundreds of spectators lining the parade route. Line-up notices will be mailed to parade applicants this month. The notice will provide your line-up number, instructions for staging/ drop-off procedures, and a parade route map. Please be sure to distribute this information to all members of your unit! In an effort to enhance our parade, the Parade Committee has developed guidelines for all parade entrants. So please remember, all entries must show some effort in their presentation by providing visual or audio amusement for spectators. We look forward to the sights and sounds of this year’s parade. We hope to see you there! The Parade Committee is looking for volunteers to help with assembly on Sunday, June 5. If interested, please call Gail Croson at the Chamber office. Message from Lake Park Educational Service Center The Lake Park High School District 108 Board of Education reached an agreement with the PGA of America to utilize East and West Campus facilities during the 2012 Ryder Cup. This event is scheduled at Medinah Country Club for September 25 to September 30, 2012. At the April 25 meeting of our Board of Education the agreement and associated compensation were approved. This premier golf tournament is expected to attract 45,000 visitors on a daily basis, including numerous world leaders. Due to security issues and anticipated traffic in an event of this magnitude, the Lake Park Board of Education judiciously processed the PGA’s proposal. Because Medinah Road will be completely closed to general traffic during the tournament, access to East Campus will be virtually impossible. Based on this decision, Lake Park will be modifying the 2012-13 school calendar. Monday, September 24 through Friday, September 28, 2012 will be non-attendance days for students. There will be no loss of instructional time, and we will be able to maintain our traditional holiday and break schedules. A tentative draft of the 2012-13 calendar is posted on the LPHS website. They will be working proactively to address activities and athletic events and practices scheduled during that week. The PGA of America and Medinah Country Club have a history of supporting school and community partnerships. This is an exciting opportunity for the school and our community. Additional details on the LPHS website for your reference. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to call contact Lynne Panega at 630-295-5440 or lpanega@lphs.org.
