Another Kick Off for ….. the Olweus Anti-Bullying Program
… There was an another kick-off this week as motivational
speaker and stunt bike rider Chris Poulos wowed students and
staff with great bike stunts and a message of respect for each other. Between stunts he shared his life story and taught lessons on
how to prevent bullying. After the assembly, students returned to
their rooms to work on slogans, chants and posters on the rules to
prevent bullying. The whole school gathered again at the end of
the day to watch each grade share their songs and posters. A letter went home to all families describing the Olweus Anti-bullying
program. Parents and guardians will get to learn more about Olweus and how it works during the Open House Nights September
25 and 26.
Playground committee The Epping School Board has approved
the formation of a Playground Committee to study and recommend a plan to improve the Epping Elementary Playground members of the Epping public interested in serving on this committee
are requested to notify District Office of their interest by September 20, 2012. Please contact Paula VanGundy by telephone at
679-8003 x101, by email at pvangundy@sau14.org or by mail at
213 Main Street, Epping, NH 03042.
Volunteer Orientation for New Volunteers. Anyone who is interested in volunteering at the Epping Elementary School and was not fingerprinted last year must attend this orientation. There will be a brief meeting
and tour of the school. Please contact Mrs. MacLeay at 69-8018, et. 224 if you plan to attend.
Not All Eligible Families Are Signing UP for Federal Lunch Program. During these uncertain economic
times it is good to know that students can take part in our school’s breakfast or lunch program for a reduced
fee or for free. All families have to do is fill out the forms available in the main office or from a teacher or
staff member. Unfortunately, not all families have filled out and turned in the forms which means some students are not getting the nutrition they need. It also means our school receives less federal money to support
programs like the Title I reading and math tutoring. If you are not sure about whether your family is eligible
you can talk with a school guidance counselor (Kathleen Stanley Berting or Marianne McDonough) or the Epping Food Service Director, Veronica Bush (679-5472) or me. Applications are confidential
State Testing Begins October 1 Grade 4 will begin NECAP testing on Monday, October 3. Grades 3-4-5

PTO FALL FUNDRAISER
Our Fall Fundraiser kicks off Friday with an exciting assembly for all classes. This is our major fundraiser of
the season. The focus is on safe fundraising. Sell only to people you or your family knows. Please share the
catalog with family, friends and co-workers and help raise money for our students! You can also shop online
at www.cherrydale.com. Enter school code FREPPEN and create a student ID number. Email family and
friends from around the country and enlist them to support our cause!
The fundraiser starts today and ends on Monday, October 1st. Payment for all orders must be submitted at that
time. Checks should be made out to Epping Elementary PTO. Delivery will be the first week in November.
Don’t forget our Fast Start Wacky Wednesday! Sell 5 items in the first 5 days and receive a “be cool at
school” bracelet and a chance to win a “Chilly” penguin.
There are also prizes for participation by class. Every class that has over 50% participation gets an extra recess! Last year 11 classes got a free recess. Let’s see if every class can get free recess this year! Good luck!
DAILY SNACK CART
Snacks and bottles of water will cost 25 cents.
This year we will also be selling Trix yogurt, cheese sticks, and graham crackers. Popcorn will be sold EVERY Friday.

from the PTO. You can register by attending one of our meetings or by going to our website: www.eppingpto.org . Once you have become a registered PTO member you will begin receiving email reminders about

Join the Epping
Stars
The Epping Stars is thrilled to be participating in our 5th Walk Now For Autism.
Our group is made up of families, friends, caregivers and incredible school staff
that support these Epping children affected with Autism. Join us in helping those
affected by autism and those that hopefully may never hear those hard words,
"your child has autism." We hope that you will join and/or support us to walk as a
united front of love, compassion, and gain further understanding of the many challenges our children, family, and educators face each day and know that we are not
alone and that it can be better every day! The walk day is a great family event!
Please contact Andrea Meyer at ameyer71@gmail.com or
