I hope everyone is enjoying some nice weather outside with their families. Soon enough, the smell of fresh cut grass will be in the air. We only have a few months left and this is a really busy time of year for the PTO. I hope you are able to come and support our upcoming events. You did a great job, Mindy! Thank you to Ashley Pantano for taking care of our donations for the Lehman Center. Great idea! Thank you to all who made donations. Thank you, Jill Laughman, for counting all of the donations for Penny Wars and taking care of the prizes! Great job, as always! Thank you, Nicki Herdson, for all of your hard work with the Wolfgang Candy fundraiser and the spirit nights held throughout the year! Thank you to Jen Baumgartner for coordinating the Bus Driver Appreciation Breakfast. Our PTO could not be a success without our wonderful volunteers. Coming up this month are some fun events. Our first ever Pottery Nights will be held with Mrs. Lehman (these required preregistration and the nights are currently full). We also have a spirit night at Isaac’s Deli (please see the flyer on the last page). We’ll also be planning for our end of year activities. Please consider volunteering where you can. We still need a chairperson for next year for our Holiday Breakfast with Santa. If you are interested, please contact me and let me know. Our April PTO meeting will be held on Monday, April 4, at 7:00 p.m. in the library. Please consider attending. At this meeting we will be voting for our 2016-2017 PTO Officers. Nominations can be accepted up until the time of the meeting. If you are interested, please contact Mindy Svec. I hope to see you at the next meeting! Treasurer: Juli Gundel bgundel@comcast.net Christa Smith christaasmith@comcast.net NEWS Fundraising News Penny Wars Thanks to everyone who came to Spirit Night at Chipotle on March 15. The event raised $605.65 for the school! Congratulations to the 2nd grade class for winning our annual penny wars with a total of $217.40! Together, the students raised $571.14 toward future scholarships for their class! A special thanks to a wonderful team of volunteers who helped to sort and process the nearly 1,500 items that were part of our Wolfgang Candy order. And, thanks to the volunteers who helped with the candy pick-up process. This fundraiser would not have been a success without the support of a great team of people including Katy Breault, Alison Federline, Melissa Kenyi, Megan McGlauglin, Heidi Millard-Lewis, Shannon Reid, Sarah Provenson, Jenn Salla, Christa Smith, and Jodi Snyder. And thanks to Mrs. Mohar, Mr. Carl, and all of the staff for all of their support of our fundraisers this year! Lehman Center Children’s Aid Society Collection The Caring and Sharing Committee would like to thank everyone for the donations for the Pajama Drive benefiting the Lehman Center. It was a great success! Thank you for your generosity! COMING SOON: A New Slide Structure! As many of you already know, two of our oldest sliding boards were removed last summer due to safety regulations. Thanks to everyone’s support, the students will have a new slide structure very soon! Our new slide structure will feature two double racing slides at two different heights. It also includes a fire escape ladder and an ADA compliant staircase so that all children can enjoy playing on it! Many thanks to everyone who supported our fundraisers this year! VOLUNTEER INFO May Day Saturday, May 7 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. May Day is fast approaching and we need your help! No talent is required and this Is a great opportunity for older siblings, family, and friends to give back and have a fun day with family. Plus, each volunteer will receive a free lunch! Scholastic Book Fair May 9-11 We’re in need of many volunteers to work at the Book Fair to set up, help shoppers of all ages find the perfect book, and to pack up. NOTICE: 2016-2017 PTO Officer Elections Elections for our 2016-2017 PTO Officers will take place at the April PTO Meeting on Monday, April 4, at 7:00 p.m. in our school library. We just can’t thank our volunteers enough for everything that you do for our school! EVENTS Isaac’s Deli Spirit Night Our final spirit night will take place on Tuesday, April 19, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Isaac’s Deli on Pauline Drive in South York. On this night, 25% of dine-in, online orders and carry-out meals purchased with our flyer (please see last page) will be donated back to the PTO. Thanks for your tremendous support of all of our spirit nights! Scholastic Book Fair May 9-11 GROOVE on into our Spring Book Fair, where you’ll find nothing but PEACE, LOVE, HAPPINESS and a huge selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Reading for pleasure unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. Book Fair Dates and Shopping Hours: May Day Saturday, May 7, 11am – 3pm Loganville-Springfield Elementary School’s annual May Day will begin with the May Pole dance at 11am, followed by games, food, crafts, face painting, hair braiding, prizes, sand art, silent auction, and lots more! Please join us for this fun-filled, family day! Monday, May 9, 12 pm – 8 pm Tuesday, May 10, 9 am – 3pm Wednesday, May 11, 9 am – 3pm If you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/ loganvillespringfieldes2. Twenty-five percent (25%) of the cost of your meal will go directly to LSE PTO! Please come out and support us!
