St Christopher’s Primary School
About St Christopher’s
Primary School
St Christopher’s Primary School is a Catholic primary school that
has been associated from its opening in 1960 to the present day,
with the Pallottine Order. The school is situated in a secluded part
of the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
While St Christopher’s is a Catholic school we are open to all who
wish their children to be educated in an environment fostering
strong Christian values. The student population is culturally rich and
diverse.
From the Principal
From the Parish Priest
St Christopher’s is a Catholic school
dedicated to the development of the
whole child where all programs are
underpinned by the Gospel values.
We, St Christopher’s Parish and School, believe
that parents are the first and best teachers of
their children, especially in the ways of faith
and we seek to support you in this fundamental
task. Both parish and school are enriched if we
can work together. For this we need your help
to lay a solid faith and values foundation and
to create a warm, welcoming and challenging
community in which our children can grow in
faith and in love.
We aim to challenge our children to
reach their full potential through a broad
curriculum tailored to meet every child’s
individual needs and we strive to provide
excellence in all areas of school life.
Recent refurbishments as well as an investment in Information
Technology and a constant focus on ‘best practice’ have put
St Christopher’s at the forefront of excellence in education as
reflected in the school’s consistently outstanding test results.
St Christopher’s Primary School and Parish have both been very
active throughout their history which reflects a true testament to
one of the core convictions of the Pallottine Order: Every Catholic
an Apostle. The school’s motto ‘In faith we live, love and learn’ has
further embedded this goal in the lives of its community.
In order to meet the demands of a rapidly
changing society, we ensure that the
professional development undertaken
by our dedicated staff enables them to
provide programs and activities relevant
to children of the 21st century.
Curriculum
We aim to develop each child’s self
esteem and to make our school
community a happy, rewarding and
enjoyable place to be.
A challenging and diverse curriculum offers the students learning
in Religious Education as well as all the domains in the Victorian
Essential Learning Standards (VELS). The school is currently
working to integrate the new National Curriculum.
All students are personally encouraged, challenged and supported
in their learning. We place a strong emphasis on catering for
individual differences and student wellbeing.
Our caring and dedicated staff maintain an atmosphere of warmth
and affection throughout the school. We recognise individual
learning styles and value the effort and contribution of each child.
We offer a well balanced, comprehensive curriculum that retains a
strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy. We implement school
wide comprehensive assessment and reporting techniques to
inform parents and our teaching.
Achieving
excellent
academic, social,
emotional,
spiritual
and physical
We are unashamedly a Catholic school but we
are enriched by different cultures and faith
traditions in our community. The school, a
microcosm of society, prepares our children for
life. May our harmony, respect and reciprocal
understanding bode well for our future together.
