Yes, I’ve been producing the Bedouin Bazaar for that long. It gets bigger every year, but the planning gets easier. (I’m already working on 2004) This year, the hardest task was scheduling dancers. I had more requests than I had times available. So, unfortunately, some didn’t get a dance spot this year. Medea, who has brought her group every year, was very smart and signed up in March. This year will see a change of venue for the dinner show. It will be held at the India Taj Restaurant (just west of our event) which is also providing food at the Bazaar (in the parking lot). Var Daghdevirian will be joining the Desert Wind band at the dinner show. Please see the ad in the program for details. (Reservations are at the front desk. Space is limited!) Seminars this year feature some of the top instructors in our community. Angelika Nemeth brightens the day with Veils (my mother even signed up for this one) and Sai’di Cane including double cane. Jillina livens up the day with sizzling drum solos and Arabian Pop. Learn how to make your own customized skirt and top with Gaylene. Remember also that photographer Cathy Yavorksy’s studio is about 5 minutes away on Mercury Street. She is providing huge discounts on her photos for dancers at the Bazaar this weekend. A $175.00 value for only $50.00! 45 minute sitting, 4 free 3 x 5” proofs and discounts on other photos. Sign up at front at desk. The number of upstairs vendors also increased this year. That’s where you’ll find henna and psychic readings as well as clothing, gift items and beauty products. This is the place to take a seminar or have a day-spa experience. So enjoy your weekend of shopping, dancing and socializing. Make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s Bazaar on October 9th and 10th. The seminar instructors will be Judeen, Alexandra King, and Dawn Devine Brown. Please see the center of the program for details. •MAIN FLOOR: Vending, Performances •UPSTAIRS: Vending, Workshops, Women’s Dressing Rooms •FOOD: India Taj (in the parking lot), Proud Mary’s/Ramada Inn •PHOTOGRAPHY: Cathy Yavorsky’s Studio on Mercury Street •MAP TO PHOTO STUDIO & INDIA TAJ AVAILABLE AT FRONT DESK. • NOT A SAMEDA EVENT • —3— The Bedouin Bazaar After Hours Party A BIG THANK YOU TO MY SUPPORT STAFF FROM SCOTTIE I’D TO VOLUNTEERS BEFORE AND DURING THE EVENT. The weekend would not run as smoothly without all your help. A special thank you to Dave Dhillon, Jim Boz, and RAS whose combined sound systems make us ROCK! To Kay Littau for creating the Mary Kay gift baskets for my instructors. To Lily Splane who makes such nice posters, and gets things off the internet for me—not to mention she finally got me connected: (scottiebellydancer@yahoo.com). To those teachers who encourage their students come and shop (not to mention shopping at Scherazade’s Souk year round). To my mom, sister, niece and son who help out as needed. You’ll find them at the front selling tickets and stamping hands. To my student Valentina, who helped with the dancer gifts. To Dotti, Toni, Jamila, Ana and her mom who help out every year with raffle sales, the door, and MCing. And last, but not least, to Richard for all the hard work he does on the program, flyers, etc., and setting up the sound as well as managing it. at the 5450 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. STE g, San Diego. 858•565•1991 or 565-1661 Just down the street west from the Bazaar Saturday evening October 11TH, 2003, 8 PM INTERNATIONAL R ECORDING ARTISTS TRIBAL • F USION • JAZZ WITH GUEST PERCUSSIONISTS VAR DAGHDEVIRIAN AND RICHARD ADRIAN STEIGER angelika Nemeth, Jim Boz, abhi, AND cyriana Limited Dinner Seating at 7:00 PM Sign up Soon!
