Last year was my first year of presenting the Bazaar the entire weekend with dinner shows both evenings. It was so much fun, I’ve decided to make it permanent. I’m looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones, dancing, and yes, most importantly—shopping! I hope you will enjoy your day and join me at the Greek Palace for dinner, featured dancers, and open dancing to live music. Tandemonium, a Bedouin Bazaar favorite, will conduct seminars in Persian Dance. These ladies have studied extensively. They will not only present dance steps, but also give background and costuming information. Judeen’s seminars this weekend will cover techniques and steps for the American cabaret dancer including floor dancing. She has won several awards for her dance expertise. A new feature this year is Louise’s seminar on Salsa and other Latin dances. She will enable you to spice up your performances with some hot, hot, hot moves! This will be great to use with Hossam Ramzy’s Latin American hits from the American Belly Dancer CD. Popular recording artists Desert Wind return this year. They are scheduled on Saturday from 4 to 5 PM, with a follow up concert and dinner show at the Greek Palace starting at 8 PM. Dave Dhillon and Richard Steiger will be joining them as guest percussionists. Sunday features the ever popular Bedouin Bazaar Band from 4 to 5 PM with John Bilezikjian, Dave, and Richard. The dinner show will start at 8 PM at the Greek Palace with John and Dave. Al Kimie joins us this year providing live music for open dancing at 12 noon. Frank Lazzaro also will lead a drum and dance circle in the seminar room. Both dinner shows will have performances by professional dancers and open dancing for those who really like to party. A mouthwatering buffet will be available and of course the no-host bar for those desiring something stronger than tea, soda, or coffee. Reservations can be made at the front desk. Bedouin Bazaar 2002 will be October 12 and 13th. Seminar instructors will include Marguerite Kusahara, Richard Steiger, and Mariah. Please see the ad in this program for details. •Main Floor—Vending, Performances •Upstairs—Vending, Seminars, Women’s Dressing Rooms •Food—Kayla’s Cart (parkinglot), Kearny’s, Proud Mary’s/Ramada Inn •Photography —Cathy Yavorsky’s Studio on Mercury Street •Map to1 Photo Greek Palace at front desk. 200 B E D O UStudio I N B A Z& AA R PRO G R A M Mavailable E BY R A STEIG ER —3— Bedouin Bazaar After Hours Party at The Greek Palace 8878 Clairemont Mesa Blvd., San Diego Just down the street from the Bazaar—East on Clairemont Mesa Blvd. Saturday, October 13th, 2001 8 PM Tribal • Fusion • Jazz Desert Wind with geust percussionists Dave Dhillon and Richard Steiger Sunday, October 14th, 2001 8 PM Oudist Extraordinaire John Bilezikjian with Dave Dhillon • Guest and Open Dancing • • A Delicious Buffet — No Host Bar • $20.00 in Advance / $25.00 at the Door ☞ For Reservations and Tickets: Contact Scottie at 858-581-0135 3234 Idlewild Way, San Diego, CA 92117 —4— Women’s Dressing Area and All Seminars are on the Upper Level Schedule of Events Raffles throughout each day! 11:00 am Sat. / 12:00 pm Sun.. To Richard Steiger who helps with set up, manages the sound system, produces this program, flyers and anything else on the computer as needed, performs, and most of all supports my endeavors. To Kalie, the official mom, who flies all the way from Maryland to help now that I’ve expanded to two days. To Jinx, my sister, who handles the front desk, makes correct change, and keeps smiling no matter how busy it gets. To Tony and Dottie who have increased the raffle ticket sales tremendously, and are available throughout the event for other tasks as needed. To John Bilezikjian whose music livens up the day and After Hours party. To Dave Dhillon who not only performs, but helps in other ways as emergencies arise. To Desert Wind who traveled all the way from Salt Lake City by car to perform on Saturday and Saturday night. To Cathy Yavorsky whose photographs capture not only the outer beauty, but also the inner beauty. To Arnie Lerner and Jeanie Chafferty whose video work captures the poetry of dancers in motion. And, finally, thanks to all the volunteers during and prior to the event. —16— I hope you enjoyed the 13th Annual Bedouin Bazaar. Thanks so much for coming. I trust you made new friends and visited with old acquaintances. Your continued support throughout the years has made this a worthwhile and pleasurable endeavor for me. Please feel free to make suggestions or comments that will enhance the event. My goal is for everyone to have fun, and for performers to share their dance in a warm and friendly environment. Have a safe trip home! Scottie, aka— Scherazade PS —See you at the After-Hours Party at the Greek Palace, just down the street from the Bazaar! Saturday features Desert Wind and Sunday features John Bilezikjian. Both shows start at 8 PM. See this programme and the poster in the lobby for details. And a big thank you to George Salek, his Family, and the Staff of the Greek Palace for hosting my Dinner Shows (and their scrumptious food)! —17— In these trying times, I am proud to be an American belly dancer. We have the freedom to embrace some of the best parts of the Middle Eastern culture — their dances and food — without becoming embroiled in the politics. Please join me in remembering those heroes of September 11th and their families by contributing to the disaster fund. Part of the monies I collect will be donated to the A.S.P.C.A. to aid the pets of those lost in the disaster. Rock on America! —18— —19— joynan@unicorn-BDS.com Everything for Middle Eastern Dance at affordable prices. E - EMAIL : Belly Dance Supplies 3361 S.
