Our 2016 Confirmation Class Confirmation is the ceremony through which we recognize and celebrate the importance of continued Jewish education. It is traditionally linked to the festival of Shavuot when the first fruits were brought to be offered at the Temple. During their years of study, Washington Hebrew Congregation’s Confirmands have developed a stronger connection to the Jewish people, a greater understanding of a wide range of Jewish values, and have come to more fully appreciate the diversity of Jewish beliefs and practices. We applaud the achievements of its Confirmands and invite the entire congregation to join us on Sunday, May 15 at 9:00 am at Temple for the confirmation of the following 48 young women and men: Molly Nicole Albert Sara Heimlich Eve Alexandra Lustig Griffin T. Ambassador Ahmed is the former Pakistani High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland. Currently, he is the Ibn Khaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University and Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. National Character Shapes Our World, analyzes the efforts of Israelis to forge an identity. “They are grand and grandiose, visionary and delusional, generous and self-centered,” Dr. Gratch suggests. “Deeply caring because of the history of Jewish victimization, Israelis also demonstrate,” he says, “a shocking indifference to the sufferings of others.” Dr. Gratch has served on the faculty of Columbia University’s Department of Clinical Psychology and has worked as a consultant for Pepsi, Colgate-Palmolive, Nabisco, and the NFL.
