Resident Spotlight
Theodore Fredrick Woodall
Theodore Fredrick Woodall was born
September 9th, 1927 to Phillip and Lena
Toft Woodall. He lived on a farm near
Royal with five siblings. He had three
brothers: William, Chris, and Burdette,
(who all have passed away) and two
sisters: Phyllis from Spencer and Norma
who lives in Texas.
Ted attended elementary country school
#5, and graduated high school in the
town of Royal in 1945. Ted worked
on the family farm until joining the
Army. He achieved Sergeant ranking
2014
and worked in the Army office. After
the service Ted returned home to help
farm with brother Bill. Ted said there
were lots of farm chores to do back then.
He enjoyed fishing and going uptown in
Royal for coffee with the guys.
Ted enjoys visiting with the residents and
staff here at Longhouse. He attends the
many activities and thinks the food is
great!
Looking Back & Ahead In Activities
THANKS TO ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS THAT HELP AND ENTERTAIN US HERE AT LONGHOUSE - NORTHSHIRE!
We all enjoyed the sunny October days by taking residents for outside rides. Joanne Shar continues to share great stories
and memories during our Wednesday morning book club. Norma was in the kitchen quite often in October making pumpkin
and pecan pies, Halloween treats for the residents, and a special “Wine and Dine” evening meal of walleye BBQ. for all the
residents to enjoy. We topped off October by inviting staff and their children to “Trick or Treat” Halloween night.
November 10th LH-NS along with Gentiva Hospice held a Memorial Service here to remember those that have passed in
the last year, followed by coffee and fellowship time. November 11th we took nine of our fifteen Veterans to Sacred Heart
for a special program. This month the coop home school kids will entertain us with a talent show. Check out our website for
calendar of activity events. Come visit and have a cup of coffee on us anytime!

Once again Sacred Heart put on a wonderful program for Veterans Day and invited our resident
veterans to attend. Each of the veteran’s received a packet made especially for them by the Sacred
Heart children.

One of our vets being greeted and
thanked by service men and vets.
The holidays will soon be upon us so if you will be joining a resident for a
meal, our kitchens would like a 24-48 hour notice to ensure we will have
enough food to serve everyone. A free will donation is welcome for the
meal.
If you want to have a family gathering over the holidays (or anytime☺)
please notify us of the date, time and number of guests, so we can better
accommodate your time here together with your resident.
When gifting clothing or personal items, please give to nurse’s station,
so labels can be affixed before placement in the closet, dresser, or room.

Employee of the Month
We have recently started an Employee of the Month here at LonghouseNorthshire. There are stations and nomination boxes located on each unit.
The nominations will be open to anyone from employees, to residents,
family members, etc. If you feel an employee from any department has
gone above and beyond him/herself.
Please stop by one of the Nomination Stations and nominate them to
become the next Employee of the Month.
Special Program
The Meadow Busy Bees 4-H Club came on a Saturday to play bingo.
The girls also helped the residents
make a craft with soup cans.
The residents made table mats to decorate
our fall parties.
Halloween
Vi was our “Good Witch of Northshire”
Many staff and residents dressed up for
the fun day.
Pet Therapy
Katie pays a friendly visit to Lavonne.
Residents put candy in dishes for the
others to hand out to trick or treaters.
Games
Tall Corn Day Trivia game tried to stump the crowd!

Old Fashion Whip Cream Churning
Norma gave the residents a chance to churn cream into whipped cream and was later used to serve on top of a dessert for coffee time.
Regina, Evelyn and Ralph took their turns.
Wine and Dine Evening
Norma prepared a wonderful meal choice of waleyed pike or bbq ribs for all our residents to enjoy.
Tables were decorated and the wine was chilled.
