Well Black Sheep June is here and it still feels like March.
Hope Mother Nature gets the seasons straightened out, cause we have a lot of riding to do.
Garvis Charity (June 7) ride caught us by surprise but being the Black Sheep I am sure
we will pull it off. Don't forget the monthly meeting for June is the 7th and NOT the
14th. The camping weekend on June 13-14 should be a lot of fun. Camping is planned at
Nature's Bridge which is 4 miles north of Stuart, IA. Watch your E-mail for more
information about these exciting events.
Then on June 14th we will ride to Jefferson for the Parade with Chapter W.
Some are going to the Missouri District Rally at Branson, MO June 5-7. We are sure they
will have a lot to tell us about the rally when we see them.
Be sure to watch the schedule and don't miss any dinner rides or events.

that is for sure is that Everyone Always has a GREAT time.
Make sure to take along your Blacksheep shirts as that is how we
find one another!
Don’t forget that Iowa District will be manning the Goodie Booth
again this year, so stop on by and say Hello, buy your souvenir TShirts and other GWRRA items. If you have some time the booth
would never turn a request to help volunteer down.

something you need to be just that little bit safer :)

This is a follow up to last month’s topic. Due to space limitations, we had to split up the topics so that they would fit in the
newsletter.
As for nutrition while riding we are, in general, an aging group and have a multitude of health challenges. Not that the younger
crowd doesn’t have these issues, it is just less prevalent. Diabetes and hypoglycemia are two big issues these days. Those with these
conditions (or other medical issues) need to take special care with their nutrition to keep themselves from having issues while out on
the road. Get to know those you ride with and what their health issues are and what can be done to help them. Sometimes giving
someone a candy bar or orange juice will bring them out of a situation but everyone is different and you need to know what to do for
them specifically.
In terms of nutrition, it is a good idea to keep some protein bars, or nuts of some kind with you in the bike in the event you need
them. A quick bite of something nutritious can stave off the hunger pangs and keep you from eating other stuff that is not so good
for you.
While riding, keep in mind that you are spending a good deal of time in the saddle and not getting a lot of exercise so it would be a
good idea to not over eat while having meals on the road. Eating several times a day but small amounts will keep you fuller longer,
keep you from overeating and it is really how our bodies were designed to work so don’t stuff yourself at every meal. Overeating
can cause drowsiness as well and that isn’t good while riding.

Collie Corner
Mark your calendars for October 18 and 19, 2014. The Iowa District will host a Horizon
Program. This program is one and one-half days. I know, I know, you are thinking “a day
and a half in training, not me”. Look at it this way, it is for your benefit, this program will
give you an opportunity to step out of your comfort zone. By that, I mean, you may be very
comfortable working within your Chapter, but are you as comfortable working with someone you may not know or don’t know very well? This Program gives you that opportunity.
Not only will it help build leadership qualities but is designed to help with Team building.
Step-by-step, inch-by-inch, it is so much fun. By the end of the day and a half you too will be
telling everyone “you should have been at the Horizon, we had so much FUN”. Contact
Clara Boldt, Iowa District Master Trainer at toledotriker@gmail.com or 319-240-4269 to
register for this FUN filled seminar.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY
