It really is true that members of credit unions

Debit Cards:
Cautions and
Concerns
Spring Cleaning
We here at RMECU know how much you
appreciate the convenience of using your debit
card. When you are in a hurry, just swipe your
card and it will come out of your account
automatically. Even with this convenience,
as a precautionary measure, we would like
to discourage you from using your debit card
for certain types of transactions. When joining
one of the fitness centers or when ordering
things online, or using a Paypal account,
you may want to consider other alternatives
for more protection.
• Tax documents - after 7 years
Any of these types of transactions may be
processed through ACH by giving them our
routing number, 275981420, and your account
number with 00 after your account number for
savings and 09 for checking.
Another method of payment could be our
RMECU Visa Credit Card. You can pick up an
application by stopping in the CU. Any one of
our staff will be happy to assist you with filling
one out.
Have you started your spring cleaning?
Please keep in mind how long you should keep
important documents. You may use this handy
little time frame:
•S
tatements (monthly, quarterly, credit card) 5-7 years
• Receipts - 1 year
• Paid loan documents
- Car - until vehicle is sold
- Mortgage - 7 years
- Signature - 2 years
If you do not want your receipt or statement
when we give it to you here at the credit union,
please don’t throw it away in the trash in the
lobby or rip it up and leave it in your car.
We can shred it for you.

Kids Corner
Parents- It’s that time of year again; make sure you visit the credit union
during April 22nd-28th for National Youth Week. Bring your children in
to make a deposit and their name will be entered into a drawing for a
prize. Now is the best time to open an account. Help us transform our
youth into Super Savers.
Younger than age 5
• Introduce the concept of money by giving your children change
to spend occasionally when you go to the store. Limit their options
to save time and avoid conflict.
Ages 5 to 10
•L
et your children save for something they really want. Rewards reinforce your child’s savings
habits, so connect savings to spending.
Ages 11 to 14
• Take your children on shopping trips to teach them what things cost.
•E
ncourage jobs for extra money, such as babysitting, yard work, or pet care.
