Personnel Tracking System for Enhancing
Employee Safety in Upper Zakum Site
The applied Personnel Tracking System automatically
detects and provides counts of personnel in each of
the predefined zones within the site without the need
for manual head counting. PTS has the following
advantages:
l
Instantaneous head count and locating of the personnel
in the Danger Zone as opposed to indirect head count
method. This valuable time is crucial in saving lives
and avoiding rescue teams exposure
l
The system is less sensitive to human non-compliance
& immune to head count flaws
The new system will give instantaneous counts which
would facilitate the evacuation process.

Engineer in 2007 and joined ZADCO in June 2007. He completed his training program
as painting inspector at Zirku under GMW. Mr. Khaled has been outstanding performer
during his PDP and was integrated in June 2010.
Based on his strong theoretical and practical approach, he successfully completed
the NACE Painting Inspector Certification Program. Khaled is now a NACE Certified
Coating Inspector (Level 3). He is versatile, adaptable, safety conscious with excellent
communication skills at all levels, with proven ability to work under pressure in any
situation.
Khaled has acquired in-depth experience in paint coating, hot/cold insulation, wrapping
of underground pipelines and passive fire proofing of structures. He has been involved
in conducting coating surveys and assisted OS-FIT in the pre-qualification of painting
contractors. Khalid is currently involved in shutdown and maintenance activities of
Zirku Plant Facilities.
His dedications towards achieving high standard of safety and quality in a very

Mr. Mohamed Al Hameemi-UA Field
The initiatives and the skills he established at his work are the
hallmark of his success, where the new generation has a lot to learn
from.
Mr. Al Hameemi joined ZADCO on September 2002 as Plant Operator. Right from the
beginning, he has been demonstrating an entirely different nature of work attitude
coupled with possessing new techniques to enthusiastically participate in various site
activities as and when required.
Having proven his capability as Plant Operator, Mr. Al Hameemi did not spare much
time to learn the new skills required for the Panel Operation. The initiatives and the skills
he established at his work are the hallmark of his success, where the new generation
has a lot to learn from. Subsequent to his extraordinary performance at the level of
plant operator, he was promoted to Sr. Panel Operator in the year 2009.
Throughout the past years, he has been an excellent employee fully charged with
valuable ideas/suggestions. Recently, he has put forward few brilliant suggestions for
diverting UAD productions from Wellhead Platform No. 11 to LP Separator ‘B’ and
lining up the new ESP well recently drilled at WHP-04.
Proudly, his suggestions have tremendously contributed in improving the daily
production of Umm Al Dalkh Field and also in sorting out some of the chronic
operational bottlenecks that UAD was born with. Simple but brilliant ideas
that is what always comes from Mr. Al Hameemi. One has to be so proud to
see such young UAE national who is very much dedicated at work with such
potential. Last but not least, it has to be stated that within a short span of time,
Mr. Al-Hameemi managed to earn the trust and confidence of his co-workers, superiors

Corporate Environmental
Reporting is Now Online
The key driver behind this initiative was to improve
the receipt of environmental data and processing in
the least expensive approach in order to eliminate the
need for manual consolidation of data and minimize
impacts of human error. SharePoint, an existing
IT platform within the company, was selected to
offer connectivity among employees and effective
reporting of environmental data.
The system is real-time based displaying the latest
updates in reported data as well as respective
changes in environmental KPIs. A network of data
input files were designed and uploaded per site and
linked to a master sheet in which all data are collated
and automatically processed towards its respective
aspect, i.e. emission inventory, gas flaring analysis,
waste inventory, etc. Results of data analysis were
linked to two main output files:

Report Template
1- Performance reports for each operating site
highlight monthly and year-to-date performance;
2- Environmental Dashboard displaying performance
gauges and graphical interpretations of data, such as
KPIs and emissions break down by source.
The tool was launched for user testing and training
in mid 2010 in order to familiarize reporting parties
with the new tool. Feedback from users and results
from testing of the automated data analysis were
incorporated in December 2010. The online tool has
officially replaced the old manual reporting system in
January 2011.

Excel Work Book
Excel Sheeet within a Work Book
The main realized advantages of the system include:
•
•
•
•
Reduced typos/errors,
Regular tracking of operational events,
Utilizing trending tools with fixed dashboard,
Performance Dashboard that is updated on a
monthly basis for operating sites and Company
Management.
The application is planned to incorporate the
remaining elements of HSE, namely Health and
Safety, to minimize the data entry effort from source
and facilitate data analysis and reporting by the HSE
Department.
To enhance the management and reporting of
corporate environmental performance, an online
reporting tool was developed in-house in 2010. The
developed tool has cost-effectively eliminated any
unnecessary cost in purchasing reporting software by
using ZADCO's existing IT infrastructure (SharePoint
Intranet Portal).

FOOD POISONING
Food borne illness results from eating food
contaminated with bacteria (or their toxins or other
pathogens such as parasites or viruses).
Bacteria may be present on foods at purchasing. It
may also grow on certain foods if they are not handled,
or stored properly. Additionally, raw meat and poultry
may become contaminated during harvesting through
processing.
Severity of food poisoning depends on the type of
contaminant and the amount eaten. Symptoms can
develop rapidly within 30 minutes and can range from
mild to serious and include abdominal pain, cramps,
nausea, diarrhea, fever, and dehydration. However,
food poisoning can be especially dangerous for
babies, children, the elderly, pregnant women, and
those in poor health.
SELF CARE AT HOME
Short episodes of vomiting and small amounts of
diarrhea lasting less than 24 hours can usually be
cared for at home. Do not eat solid food while
nauseous or vomiting but drink plenty of fluids. Small
frequent sips of clear liquids (those you can see as
clear water and apple juice) are the best way to stay
hydrated.
Avoid alcoholic, caffeinated, or sugar drinks. if
possible, over-the counter rehydration products
made for children are good to use if available.
After successfully tolerating fluids, eating should
begin slowly when nausea and vomiting have
stopped.Consider eating rice, wheat, breads,
potatoes, cereals (low sugar cereals). Lean meat
and chicken (not fried) to start in small amounts.
PREVENTING FOOD POISONING
GOOD HYGIENE AT HOME
There are four main things to remember for good
food hygiene, we have called them the 4c's.
CLEANING
It is important to wash your hands regularly, especially:
Zadco
MAY - JUNE 2011
- After visiting the toilet.
- After handling raw foods.
- Before touching ready-to-eat foods.
and remember ....
- Do not handle food when you are ill with stomach
problems, such as diarrhea or vomiting.
COOKING
Proper cooking kills food poisoning bacteria. It is
important to cook food thoroughly, especially meat.
Make sure that food is cooked right and throughly.
When reheating food make sure it is very hot all the
way through and do not reheat it more than once.
CHILLING
It is very important to keep certain foods at the right
temperature to prevent bacteria growing or toxins
forming.
If food that needs to be chilled is left standing at room
temperature, food poisoning bacteria can grow and
multiply to dangerous levels.
CROSS-CONTAMINATION
Cross-contamination is the transfer of bacteria from
foods (usually raw) to other foods. The Bacteria can
be transferred directly when one food touches (or
drips onto another, or indirectly, for example from
hands, equipment, work surfaces, or knives and on
the utensils.
Cross-contamination is one of the major causes of
food poisoning.
To prevent cross-contamination:
- Always wash your hands thoroughly after touching
raw food.
- Keep raw and ready-to-eat foods separate.
- Store raw meat in sealable containers at the bottom
of the fridges, so it cannot drip onto other food.
- Use different chopping boards/work surfaces for
raw food and ready to eat food.
- Clean knives and other utensils thoroughly after use
with raw food.
