4.2 million man-hour
Without LTI
- UAD achieved this recognition due to the
commitment by employees and contractors to HSE regulations
19th August 2014 marks a significant ZADCO
milestone in HSE field as Umm Al Dalkh (UAD)
field managed to achieve a new remarkable
record by achieving 3000 days, the equivalent
of 4.2 million man-hour, without recording Lost
Time Injury (LTI).
This remarkable achievement was primarily
attributed to the high level of commitment to
HSE by all UAD employees which promote
team spirit,
positive behavior and safety culture among
employees and contractors.
UAD achieved this outstanding milestone
despite the many simultaneous projects been
executed including the ADMA-OPCO Umm Lulu
brown field construction and installations.
What is LTI?
1
LTI is defined as any work related injury or
illness which prevents the person from
performing his/her work the day after suffering
such injury. ZADCO HSE record on all its sites
and HQ has been of an excellent level due to
the strict commitment to HSE regulations by
employees and contractors.
In order to maintain its record of zero fatalities
and zero LTI, ZADCO developed a ‘new-era’
risk management system to protect its workers
and sustain operations in the presence of many
hazards and amidst heavy construction.
In a message to UAD Team, ZADCO CEO,
Mr. Saif Nasser Al Suwaidi appreciated the
significant achievement by saying
“On behalf of the Executive Management Team, I would like
to express our acknowledgement to all UAD Team for this
achievement. We are going stronger in achieving our no LTI
goals and this new achievement comes to consolidate
ZADCOs overall HSE milestones”
Mr. Nozomi Fujita, SVP-SU, on the other hand
commended this achievement in a letter to UAD
management and team. He said
“Congratulations and thank you so much for your excellent
performance. This excellent performance cannot be achieved
without your great leadership and continuous safety conscious
which I also can see from all my colleagues working at site.
Mr. Abdulla Omar, VP-UAD, on the other hand,
congratulated his team for achieving this record by
saying
“I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to
ZADCO senior management for their support and
congratulate all UAD & ZADCO HQ personnel, all related
departments, ADMA-OPCO team and the contractors
working at UAD who contributed to this outstanding milestone
and maintain such excellent HSE record”. I also would like to
express my sincere appreciation to all my colleagues in HQ
office for their continuous support to the UAD field operation”.

ND 66 Rig Inaugurated
in South Island
ZADCO has embarked on a strategic target to
redevelop Upper Zakum Field (UZ) to increase
the field production and design the facilities to
accommodate for future capacity expansions.
Four artificial islands were constructed to
provide a more flexible and robust development
base for the redevelopment process.
To achieve this production, ZADCO needed a
self-moving cluster type land drilling rig to
operate on the artificial islands for Extended
Reach Drilling mechanism (ERD).
The National Drilling Company (NDC)
provided the required state-of –the art ND66 rig
which was inaugurated on 12th June 2014 in the
South Island among presence of top
management members from ADNOC and group
of companies. NDC delegate was led by Mr.
Abdulla Al Suwaidi CEO. While ZADCO
delegate was led by Mr. Ali Hassan Al Marzooqi.
On this occasion Mr. Al Marzooqi said:
3
“These up-to-date rigs will support ZADCO’s
mandate to achieve sustainable production
based on full field development. The rigs
have advanced equipment to achieve the
desired drilling depths with Extended Reach
Drilling, in addition to the Rig Walker System
to allow the move on the cluster pads”.
“The artificial islands concept will significantly reduce life-cycle development costs and enable long term maximum recovery levels to be achieved. To that end, this effective
partnership between ZADCO and NDC will contribute considerably to tackle the challenges
and meet the targeted production levels” … he added.

Organize Reservoir
Surveillance and
Monitoring Workshop
ADNOC Integrated Reservoir Management
Model (IRMM) and the Society of Petroleum
Engineers – Abu Dhabi Section organized a two
day workshop on June 3rd to 4th 2014 at
Rotana Beach Abu Dhabi.
The objective of the workshop was to create a
discussion platform to assess the relative merits
of advances in Reservoir Surveillance and
Monitoring (RSM) practices. Over 200
professionals from 17 different companies
located in 10 different countries participated in
the workshop.
15
About the Workshop:
In the recent years, the industry has
witnessed tremendous innovations and
advances in RSM domain; such as, smart
wells, i-fields, smart completion technologies,
Real Time Data Monitoring (RTDM) and etc.
These developments provide rapid and timely
integration of operational and field data,
reduction of cycle time between data capture
& their analysis and fit-for-purpose
visualization for a multi-disciplinary workflow.
These enhancements are achieved through
process automation. Ultimately this enables
the field operator to transform the raw data
into valuable information to optimize the
production and field operations. These
advances, over the recent years, have
become a key enabler for sustaining the
production plateau and extending the field life
in general.
Considering the historical evolution of
integrated reservoir management model
(IRMM) and the introduction of many new
technologies, artificial intelligence techniques
in particular, the aim of this workshop was to
establish a discussion platform to assess the
relative merits of these advances in view of
reservoir performance assurance.
Four main discussion themes were discussed
including Advances in Integrated Reservoir
Management Model, Visualization and Live
Monitoring, Integrated Data Analysis
towards Optimum Reservoir Management
techniques and Moving Forward.
During the successful presentations and
discussion sessions, a strong emphasis
was put on the need for the collaborative
working environment which promotes
synergistic multi-disciplinary project work
leading to change management in the
companies. Also emphasized are the roles
of the integrated use of Digital Technology
and Intelligent Energy, which are keys to
enhancing the organizational efficiency;
achieving rapid solutions to short and long
term reservoir management problems;
ascertaining cost effectiveness and
successful risk management.
One of the main strengths of the
workshop was to demonstrate the impact of
the technological advances through Green
to Brown Field Case studies to allow the
participants evidence the achievements in
the recent state of the art asset
management practices.
The workshop saw participation from UAE
representatives beside international
representatives from France, Japan, the
Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, UK and
USA.

Culture
Eid Celebrations
in the UAE
The Eid celebrations are strongly connected to
the UAE culture, traditions and folklore which
are well observed and cared for by the UAE
Nationals. The Eid celebration typically start
with Eid prayers followed by exchanging the
Eid’s greetings and ending, not the least, with
having a family get together in a public guest
house (Majles) or a Majles of a prominent figure
in the local community.
In the Majles, people enjoy having the
traditional Emirati food such as Harees, Omani
sweets and the Arabic Coffee in such
atmosphere that reflects social cohesion and
the harmony of the community, this is usually
followed by family and relatives visits as well as
getting ready to receive guests.
During Eids, joy, happiness and good deeds
extend throughout the community where
better of people care for the needy ones, older
people care for the youngers and families and
neighbors get together to exchange special Eid
greetings, meals and gifts.
Eid is always associated with people happiness
which is largely part of the social relationships
and family bonds. This happiness is shared by
young and older people alike.
31
The different shapes and forms of the UAE
heritage and traditions can be traced back to
the early history. These heritage and traditions
are proudly passed over from one generation
to the other and are largely derived from Islam,
particularly during Eids and social events such
Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha which are officially
and publically celebrated.
Emirati women start preparation for Eid as early
as in the holy month of Ramadan. They start to
prepare popular Emirati Eid food such as
Harees, Tharid, Balalit and Asida as part of the
Eid festivity.
On the other hand, Eid Al Adha comes in a
special ceremonies where Emirati people enjoy
singing in groups while waiting for barbeque
in the Mashwi (barbeque) day. They mix meat
with special spices such as pepper, saffron,
cardamom, bezar, cinnamon and date to add a
unique flavor.
