of Christ’s Resurrection Life. Clayton resides

a Torchbearer Bible School in Costa Rica.
He grew up on the beaches of Southern
California and spent ten years teaching
English as a second language before moving
to Costa Rica. Tom enjoys studying and is
currently completing an MA in discipleship
at Moody Theological Seminary. Tom and
his wife Sara have three daughters and have
been serving with Portantorchas for the past
twelve years.
Topic: Malachi – From Lifeless
Formalism to Living Hope
If we knew how much God longs to
bless us we would never be content with
lifeless formalism. Through Malachi, God
pleads with His people to forsake what is
not real and to return to walking with Him in
anticipation of the coming of Israel’s Messiah
who is also the Church’s Bridegroom; the One
who will reign over the nations.
Topic: Ephesians
As the world gets smaller with the
development of technology, transportation,
and social media, people continue to
long for something to provide a sense of
community and purpose. Paul presents the
clear message that those who are in Christ
have a unity that goes beyond what we can
humanly fabricate. We will explore practical
truth in the 6 pictures Paul uses to describe
the Church and our own lives in the book
of Ephesians as we cling to the One who
is our Life.
Topic: James – Faith that Works
James wrote insightfully clear
instruction on critical needs for living,
applied in every relationship in church, work
and home-life. This message brings clear
& powerfully practical answers to succeed
in Spiritual growth in every community of
Believers. Grasp “how” Christ’s work through
individuals brings victory in all relationships.
Refreshing renewal awaits every needy soul.
Christ’s Life flowing through us personally
can be a magnetism, drawing others into
what becomes for them too a new and fresh
dynamic ... a Christian Life that truly works ...
through faith.
These weeks are designed for you to come away to be
refreshed spiritually, emotionally & physically by the
Lord Jesus through the teaching, outdoor activities,
scenery, menu, times of reflection and interaction
with guests & staff.
Week 4
July 24 – 29
Speakers: Jacques & Sharon
Gabizon
Born in Morocco as a Sephardic Jew
and hailing from a long line of rabbinical
ancestry, Jacques Gabizon came to faith in
Christ in 1977 after searching out the claims
of the Old Testament prophets as to who
the Messiah is. Jacques is the Founding
Director of Ariel Ministries Canada which
facilitates the ongoing work of evangelism
& discipleship to Jews and Gentiles. Jacques
makes his home in Montreal, Quebec with his
wife Sharon and leads Beth Ariel, a Messianic
Congregation made up of Jewish & Gentile
believers.
Topic: Matthew’s Gospel
The Gospel of Matthew is our door to the
New Testament. Its first verse sets precedence
with the mention of two ancestors of our
Messiah; Abraham and David, both hauling
a large net of unconditional promises,
prophecies and blessings of God to Israel,
to the church and to the seeking reader. This
study of the Life of Christ comes alive in its
proper historical and social context, the one
in which our Lord grew up and in which He
fulfilled His ministry. It is our prayer & hope
that in the study of Matthew’s Gospel we will
be brought closer to seeing and believing our
great King of kings.
Week 5
July 31 – Aug 5
Speaker: Frank Cirone
Originally from Rhinebeck, New York,
USA, Frank graduated from Philadelphia
Biblical University with a BS in Biblical
Education in 1989 prior to joining the staff at
Ravencrest Chalet where he currently serves
as the Director & Bible School Principal.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Christian
Leadership from Denver Seminary. Frank
and his wife Krista, have four children and
loves watching his kids compete in their
various sports. Frank also travels and speaks
at various events in the United States and
overseas.
Topic: Hosea – A Timeless Drama
of Truth
More than any other prophet, Hosea
connected his message closely with his
personal life. By marrying an unfaithful
woman and giving his children names that
sent messages of judgment on Israel, Hosea’s
prophetic word flowed out of the life of his
family. The cycle of repentance, redemption,
and restoration evident in Hosea’s message
and marriage remains intimately connected
to our lives also.
Let's look at the abiding love of God in
redeeming an unfaithful people as it relates
to our everyday life situations.
Week 6
August 7 - 12

Matt first attended Bible School at
Capernwray Harbour for 2 years and then
felt called to serve with Torchbearers. He
was directed to Capernwray Quebec where
he has been serving for over ten years
in the roles of Resident Lecturer, Dean of
Students, Bible School Principal and now
Director. Matt met his wife Jessica at
Capernwray Harbour and each felt called
to the ministry in Quebec separately. They
have 4 energetic children. Matt's trades
prior to serving with Torchbearers included
barbering and landscaping, he has since
picked up carpentry while building his own
house and enjoys sharing Christ’s Life & Word
in whatever context he finds himself.
Topic: Exodus
In subjection to bondage & slavery in a
foreign land, God desires not only to bring His
chosen nation out but to take them in— into
a land flowing with milk and honey— into
the fullness of His richest blessing.
The Exodus book does a wonderful job
of sharing with us God’s plan for redemption,
worship and rest. This message was offered
to the nation of Israel and is offered to us
today.
“These things happened to them as
