Seasoned genealogist Judy Gambrel has 20 years’ experience in the research of her own family history. In these classes, Judy demonstrates how to go about land research and discuss using resources at the Church of Latter Day Saints, the National Archives, the Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution, Roots web, and other research options. Students should have some experience with genealogy research. If you don’t have any experience in genealogical research, please try to attend the overview class on Monday, July 25. Judy shares her valuable insight and experience to help you in your quest. Registration required. 2016 Balloonfest Amateur Photo Contest August 8-31 The Waterford Library is hosting the gallery of photo contest entries in August. New this year is a People’s Choice Award, so stop by and vote for your favorite photo before August 23. Winners will be announced on August 24. American Mah Jongg* Thursdays, August 18—September 22 10:00 a.m.—11:30 a.m. Mah Jongg is an exciting game of skill and luck! Try your hand when Elaine Adam leads our 6-week session for beginners. Participants will follow along as Barbara repurposes a lamp shade using fabric scraps, notions, and other interesting finds she has on hand. Cooking with Class: Modern Mexican Cuisine* Wednesday, September 21, 5:30 p.m. Staci Joers takes us on a culinary trip through Mexico, teaching a little food history and demonstrating how to prepare select dishes along the way. You’ll sample Cheese & Onion Enchiladas with Ancho Chili Sauce, Chiles Rellanos, Homemade Refried Beans, and Churros. Cost of class is $18. Advance registration required. On the Home Front: Letters* Monday, September 26, 6:30 p.m. Of special interest to Wisconsin history buffs, this program is based on the Civil War correspondence of Judy Cook’s Wisconsin great-great-grandparents. Her dramatic living history presentation features songs of the Civil War and projected images of life on the farm and at home in contrast to the war raging on the front lines. This program is sponsored in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Council and is free to the public.
