First Reading: Acts 15:1-2, 22-29
Some men informed the Gentiles that they must be
circumcised if they wished to be saved, because of
the Old Laws. Disciples then went forth to tell the
Gentiles to honor only those rules which were strictly
necessary, such as abstaining from eating meat
sacrificed to idols and illicit sexual union.
Second Reading: Revelation 21:10-14, 22-23
John depicts Jerusalem coming out of heaven,
sparkling with the radiance of precious jewels. Angels
were stationed at each of its twelve gates, and each
gate bore the name of one tribe of Israel. The city had
no temple, because God was its temple. The glory
and light of God and the Lamb also replaced their
need for the sun.
Gospel: John 14:23-29
Jesus tells his disciples, "Anyone who loves me will
be true to my word." For those who do honor his
word, both Jesus and God will love them and stay
with them always. He also tells them that God will
send the Holy Spirit in his place to give them the
instructions they will need. Jesus then tells them that
peace is his farewell gift to them.
Pray with Scripture…

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I

in displaced families, those who seek to
change unjust laws, and those who need
pastoral care and humanitarian assistance
around the globe.
How will you help Jesus in disguise? Please
be generous in today’s Collection.

Get High Quality Groceries at a Fraction of the Cost
Thousands of families use Catholic Charities’ SHARE Food Network each month for affordable,
nutritious groceries that can be picked up right in your own community. This month SHARE is
offering their traditional value package (with frozen meats, plus fresh produce items) PLUS two
exciting deals for meat-lovers: six steaks and 16 boneless pork chops each priced at just $21!
SHARE helps make groceries affordable for everyone by buying in bulk – the more people who
participate, the lower the prices for everyone. It’s a win-win in helping your community and saving
money! Visit www.CatholicCharitiesDC.org/SHARE.
Volunteer Groups Needed for “Cup of Joe”: In Memory of Joe Robert, Jr.
For men and women staying in overnight emergency shelters, mornings often begin on an empty
stomach. To meet this need, Catholic Charities is seeking volunteer groups to assemble healthy
“breakfast to go” bags to be distributed to the over 1,000 women and men who have a safe bed with
us each night. Groups are welcome for a one-time or ongoing volunteer commitment! Contact Mayra
Griffiths at 202-772-4321 or Mayra.Griffiths@CatholicCharitiesDC.org.
Camp St. Charles Open House: May 19th 11am – 4pm

the camp staff and speak to families who send their children to Camp St. Charles. For 56 years,
thousands of children have been making friends, learning to work together and developing an
appreciation for Creation while camping, riding horses, working through challenge courses, archery,
paddling on the river, ceramics and lots of other activities in southern Maryland. Fully accredited with
the American Camp Association and certified by the State of MD, Camp St. Charles has been run by
the Salvatorian Fathers and Brothers and Lay Salvatorians for over 60 years. New families may save
on tuition by registering at our open house. For more information, go to: www.campstcharles.com

Volunteers needed for the 2013-2014 Year
Do you have an interest in sharing our faith with adults or children? I am always looking for people. We
use a “team” model in all our education ministries so that the commitment is not every week and allows
for not only flexibility in your schedule but adds to the quality and substance of what you are delivering to
our parish adults or children. If you would like to explore options and information, email Patrice Morace at
morace@annunciationdc.org or call at 202.362.3323 ext 13.
