Abraham asks him if he would spare the city if fifty, forty, thirty, twenty or even only ten innocent people were found there. God says that he would spare the cities even for the sake of only ten. Second Reading: Colossians 2:12-14 Paul explains to the Colossians that through baptism, they are raised to life with Christ because they believed in the power of the God who raised him from the dead. Even though they once lived in sin, their sins have been pardoned through Jesus. Gospel: Luke 11:1-13 Jesus' disciples asked him how they should pray. He gave them some phrases similar to those now used in the Lord's prayer. Jesus also reminds the disciples how even men with sins are able to give good things to their children, and explains how much more the heavenly Father wants to give to us. I am always looking for people. We use a “team” model in all our education ministries so that the commitment is not every week and allows for not only flexibility in your schedule but adds to the quality and substance of what you are delivering to our parish adults or children. If you would like to explore options and information, email Patrice Morace at morace@annunciationdc.org or call at 202.362.3323 ext 13. Do you know anyone who wants to explore Our Catholic Faith? RCIA is the Church’s way of forming new disciples of Jesus Christ. It’s the way the Catholic Church welcomes its newest members, but even more important than membership in the Catholic Church is discipleship in Christ Jesus. Through a gradual, complete and comprehensive training in the Christian way of life, the unbaptized come to know Jesus Christ through the Catholic Christian community and they learn to live as Jesus— disciples. Then, as disciples, they continue the mission of Jesus Christ in the world today. Some people who participate in the RCIA are already disciples of Jesus Christ by virtue of their Baptism in a Protestant denomination. Although the RCIA is designed primarily for the unbaptized, the process has been adapted for those who are already baptized, including adults and children over seven years of age. Participating in the RCIA is much more than going to classes on Catholicism. It’s undergoing a conversion to a new way of life in Christ. Although doctrinal instruction is a part of the formation process, the formation of disciples is more like an apprenticeship. The —apprentices— learn the Catholic Christian way of life from being in the midst of the parish community. The entire community helps form the apprentice in the Christian way of life. If you know of anyone who might be interested, please contact Patrice Morace at morace@annunciationdc.org or 202.362.3323 ext 13 for more information.
