ST. ANTHONY OF PADUA PARISH
EFFINGHAM, ILLINOIS
Padre’s point of view . . .
Give God’s mercy freely; he gave it to us freely. The third work of mercy is: Clothe the naked. Our mind
immediately thinks of Catholic Charities and FISH. These are great ways to give. You may have clothes in your
closet you have not worn. Many people think, someday I will be that weight again and wear the jeans I wore 10
years ago. If that day has pasted, accept it and give the clothes in the back of the closet to those who need
it. There are many in need. Please only give if the clothes are in good shape.
Again, Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Fr. Chris will be in the St. Anthony Church office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
He will be in the Sacred Heart Church office on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Eighth Grade Girls Basketball: Regional Champs
Congratulations to Coach Repking and all the girls who
played on the eighth grade basketball team on their great
season and their regional championship!
Luminaries for Life
The front steps of our church will be filled with luminaries
on January 16 & 17 to commemorate the tragic court decision that legalized abortion. Today, abortion is by far the
leading cause of death in our country with 1.2 million
deaths per year. Look around a playground or a classroom.
For every 3 kids you see, a fourth is missing due to abortion.
Students from St. Anthony Schools and the St. Anthony
and Sacred Heart PSR classes will decorate luminaries for
the display. Please pray for inspiration for the students and
for all those who will view the luminaries.
