Gert du Plessis discussed the Oudtshoorn Business
Chamber’s association with the AHI. He said that
the main objective was to attach value to the
association and that the most important
roleplayers in any business chamber are the
members. He pledged his support to the
Oudtshoorn Business Chamber and encouraged the
management committee to test the level of cooperation from the AHI. He stated that certain
issues need to be dealt with on a provincial level,
which is where they could assist the chamber. He
said that the affiliation with the AHI was not about
the money, but rather the value of it’s services.
Municipality
A meeting had been held with Keith Jordaan where
Jacobus Maloney had chaired. It was reported that
the meeting had been cordial.
Jacobus Maloney and Melcus Nel explained the
Chamber’s negotiations with the Municipality and
the offer by the Chamber to assist the council.
Gert du Plessis suggested that the process
employed should go through the official channels
in order to ensure results.
Membership Growth
Melcus Nel discussed the membership statistics as
attached to the agenda. It was noted that there
were 17 new members to date. He discussed the
AHI, GOTB and WebWorX websites.

Appreciation and Praise
“Appreciate everything your associates do for the business. Nothing else can quite substitute for a
few well-chosen, well-timed, sincere words of praise. They're absolutely free and worth a fortune.” Sam Walton
There is no investment you’ll ever make that will pay you so well as the effort to scatter sunshine
and good cheer wherever you go.
The deepest need in human nature is the craving to be appreciated. If you treat an individual as if
they were what they ought to be and could be, they will become what they ought to be and could
be.
Everyone thrives on being appreciated, loved and needed.
There is no stronger motivation than the feeling which comes from the knowing that others believe
in you.
Applaud others when they run.
Console them when they fail.
And cheer them when they recover.
As water is to a flower, so is praise to the heart of another.
Who have you praised and appreciated today?
“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as
well.” - Voltaire

Doelwitte moet:
1. Eenvoudig wees. Wanneer jy vir iemand vertel wat
jou doelwitte is, moet hy of sy onmiddellik snap
wat jy bedoel.
2. Spesifiek wees.
3. Bereikbaar wees.
bereikbare eenhede.
4. Meetbaar wees. 'n Mens moet kan meet of jy jou
doelwitte bereik het.
5. Buigsaam wees om by veranderende omstandighede
aan te pas.
6. Geprioritiseer word.
7. Ekonomiese sin maak.
8. Aan 'n tydskedule gekoppel wees.
9. Verskillende doelwitte moet nie bots nie.
