Trifulka was formed in the middle of 2004 when the originating members from several cities of Chile, they settled in Castro (Chiloé Island). The musicians of the band come from different musical backgrounds as Rock, Blues, Afrocuban Music, Latin American Fusion and Jazz. During January and February of 2005 they participated in several activities and summer festivals across the island, interpreting a repertoire based on Latin Jazz, Salsa and Afro Cuban music. In August of 2005 they recorded their first album called "Fresco y Ahumado” (Fresh and Smoked) in which cuecas, periconas and pasacalles (Folk music from Chiloe Island) are intermingled with Afro Cuban harmonies in a Jazz key. In February of 2007 Trifulka launched their second Studio album called “Planeta Trifulka (Truifulka´s Planet) with a more jazzy musical approach. 2008 is marked by the completion of the first international tour of the band, performed during the months of June and July. On this tour Trifulka was presented successfully in 16 concerts in Amsterdam (Holland), Oslo (Norway), Antwerp (Belgium) and Paris (France). The year 2011 Trifulka ends his third studio album called Latitude 42 ° South. This disc is immersed in the musical popular imagination of today's Chilote, where Cumbias, Mexican “Corridos”, “Periconas” and “Pasacalles” melt into the soundscape that make up his musical identity. Trifulka has participated in several national tours and one international, performing successfully in over 100 concerts. Discography “Fresco y Ahumado” (Fresh and Smoked) (2006) This disc was produced to show Chilote´s Folk Music, re-interpreting “periconas”, “valses” and “cuecas” with elements of Jazz, Funk and Afrocuban Music. The musicians who participated in this recording are: Rolando Maldonado on Voice and Bass Guitar, Pepe Garrido on Drums, Alvaro Gallardo on Electric Guitar, Horacio Rebolledo on Alto Sax and Flute and Christian Koppmann on Trumpet. Guest musicians: Sebastián Fritsch on Congas and Sergio Colivoro on Accordion. This work was recorded in winter of 2005 in Castro City. Unlike the first disc, the armonic role changes from guitar to electric piano, creates a new and sophisticated sound texture with more jazzy style. The theme of the lyrics and the music-drenched vision of musicians who live on the island of Chiloe with all its vicissitudes and benefits, addressing environmental issues such as: the destruction of architectural heritage, the feeling of Williche people (indigenous people of the island) to the emergence of new projects that affect them, the issue of the bridge on the Chacao´s Channel, nightlife of Castro, among others. This work was recorded, mixed and Mastered in Puert Montt City in winter of 2006 at “Tecnologia Sur Studios” by Marcelo Carrasco assisted by Carlos Schmalz. In this sense, Trifulka delves into the musical reasons of Chiloe´s folklore, and firmly establish the sound of the accordion on it, merging a more modern musical harmony. It can say that this work makes a new contribution to current Chiloé musical heritage in terms of creation and innovation of island music.
