Ziggy Marley
Love Is My Religion
Press Quotes:
“ A very impressive album, with
plenty of chilled reggae beats,
funky rhythms, layered with
mellow vocals and heart
warming melodies.”
TRACK LISTING:

2. Love Is My Religion
3. Make Some Music
4. Friend
5. Blackcat
6. Beach In Hawaii
7. A Lifetime

(acoustic)
12. Be Free (dub)
“This album is from my heart,” says Ziggy Marley
of his second solo album, Love is My Religion.
Embracing both the spiritual and emotional side of
life, Ziggy has definitively come into his own as an
artist. The twelve track album, showcases Ziggy’s
tightly rolled talents as a songwriter (writing all
cuts), musician (playing most of the instruments)
and producer (shepherding all dozen tracks, with
three co-produced by Grammy winner Ross
Hogarth). Written “all over the world,” with some
songs penned during his youth, Love Is My Religion
expands upon the personal, social and political
themes explored in Ziggy’s debut CD, Dragonfly.
Its musical center is clearly reggae, peppered by
African percussion and other flavours.
Friendship is one of the album’s recurring themes,
whether as the core of monogamous love or the
connective tissue of global brotherhood. “Friend”
and “On the Beach in Hawaii” each offer an ode to
love. In “Keep on Dreamin’,” Ziggy extends the
idea into the spiritual world, reconnecting with his
father through dreams.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Ziggy first sat in on
recording sessions with his father when he was ten
years old. Joining with his three siblings to
become The Melody Makers, Ziggy crafted his own
soulful sound blending blues, R&B, hip-hop and reggae.
In addition to his skills as a singer, songwriter and
producer, Ziggy founded U.R.G.E. (Unlimited Resources
Giving Enlightenment), a non-profit organization that
benefits a wide range of charitable children’s causes in
Jamaica, Ethiopia and other developing nations. More
recently he has thrown his support behind the Youth
AIDS campaign.

The Brand New Heavies Get Used To It
Press Quotes:
“It's hard to recall a time
when this band has delivered
an album so well constructed

fireworks for fire here, and
no one who loves gutsy,
vintage grooves should be
caught without a copy.” –

Pioneers of the London acid jazz scene, The
Brand New Heavies translated their love for
the funk grooves of the 1970s into a
sophisticated sound which carried the torch
for classic soul in an era dominated by hiphop.
The Brand New Heavies built a cult following
throughout the London club circuit, surviving
the shift which saw the rare groove scene
fade in the wake of acid house. The group
signed with the fledgling indie label Acid Jazz.
Recorded on a budget of just 8,000 pounds,
the group’s self-titled LP appeared in 1990 to
strong critical acclaim, resulting in a licensing
deal with Delicious Vinyl. After scoring at
home with “Dream Come True” and “Stay
This Way,” the single “Never Stop” soon
landed on the American R&B charts, with the
Heavies the first British group to accomplish
such a feat with a debut single since Soul II
Soul several years earlier.
KEY SELLING POINTS:
x Currently on North American Tour (Toronto 7/16) West Coast dates tbc.
x Brand New Heavies have scanned close to 24k lifetime units
x The Heavies triumphant return marks the re-emergence of one of the most
innovative, influential R&B and funk groups of the last 15-plus years.
x A tremendous run of critical acclaim and four Top 20 hits -- Never Stop, Stay This
Way (1991), Dream on Dreamer (1994) and Sometimes (1997) -- established the
Heavies as a creative and commercial force whose influence helped birth the neo
soul movement, the acclaimed artistic explosion of the mid 1990s that included
DAngelo, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and a host of others.

Bob Egan
The Glorious Decline
Bob played all the guitars and sang all the songs
(with help from Oh Susanna on Spalding’s
Lament). He was accompanied by 3 musicians for
the whole record – classical pianist (and touring
partner) Vanessa Yundt, jazz upright bassist
Adam Blinick and from the Weakerthans and
Fembots Jason Tait on drums, percussion and
vibraphone.
Americana steel guitarist and solo artist Bob Egan
took his time making his 3rd solo record. What
started out as an ambient pedal steel instrumental
record with Jason Tait (Weakerthans, Fembots)
ended up 18 months later as a nine-song lush
soundscape of confessional lament.
“I had the luxury of a mobile recording set-up so
the constraints of time and location went away. I
was able to spend the time to get things how I
heard them in my head. I lugged that mobile
recording system from coast to coast recording in
hotel rooms, basements and dressing rooms. It
was very liberating.”
Inspired by the flow and structure of classical
music Bob set out to create a soundtrack of
textured pedal steel, classical piano and vibes that

would pull the listener into the desolate lives of
his characters.
“I wanted to make a thematic record, a listening
record that could carry you away someplace in
a subtle way. I wanted it to be linear and sad, I
wanted it to flow from the beginning to the end.”
It's a journey, the story of a glorious decline.

Hot Snakes
Thunder Down Under
The last studio recordings by the band
before they disintegrated at the end of
last year. Caught on tape in Australia at
Triple J for Radio Broadcast. De-muzzled
and produced by Greg Wales (Radio
Birdman, You Am I). Bathroom shaking
sounds
that
excel
beyond
the
premeditated attack of the band’s
previous records. Meteors colliding in
space shower our planet with frozen,
petrified splinters and fluid gobs of
molten silica. The Hot Snakes were built
on a foundation of previous/coexisting
bands that included Drive Like Jehu,
Rocket From The Crypt, Beehive And
The Barracudas, Tanner, Delta 72, Mule,
Clikitat Ikatowi, Black Heart Procession,
Pitchfork, Thingy, Burning Brides,
Earthless, Sultans, among others. Before
their extinction they ruled the world in
tyranny eating much smaller, weaker
bands. The Hot Snakes have a growing

Darker My Love
Darker My Love
Press Quote:
“It’s methodical, mechanical,
but strangely full of
emotion…very enjoyable
songs that strike a chord..”
Once upon a time, there lived a
group of revelers who made their
homes along the sparkling landscape
of the California coast. Amidst the
glitter of the ocean and the sun-lit
haze of the morning, they began to
make music together, drenching their
guitars in blissed-out fuzz, their
drums pulsing and crashing like
waves, and stretching echoing
harmonies sky-high. And with each
distorted squeal of feedback, with
each note drifting upward and
heavenward, gleaming un the shards
of California sunlight, as if it were
meant for divine intervention: Darker
My Love was born.

Kollage At This Time
Press Quotes: "Kollage
ardently embraces the last great era
of jazz when bandstands burned
with crackling energy and high
imagination - solos were direct and
players committed. This was long
before the individual supplanted the
band in importance. Kollage clearly
observe the past but walk
unconditionally in the present."
