‘NEED HELP WITH TIME MANAGEMENT?
Church member Garrett Pittman will teach a second Time Management course at church
at 11:00AM on Sunday, February 1. In about one hour, he will cover the basics of Values
Based Time Management and introduce the Franklin Planner system. He says it’s
perfect for anyone trying to juggle the demands of work/family/church/community. Also, if
you already use a planner, Garrett may be able to help you get more out of it than using it
simply as a place for to-do lists!
CHECK OUT THE HYMNAL SURVEY RESULTS!
A colored chart representing our congregation’s responses to the current hymnal survey
is posted on the bulletin board in the main hallway. Additional copies are available on the
table outside of the Church Office.
WINTER FUNDRAISER IN WORKS
This year it’s more than just a Talent Auction…our church’s midwinter fundraiser will be
accepting donations of talent as well as other gifts for the auction table. The auction will
take place on February 8, February 15 and February 22 (all Sundays). Donation forms
will be available in the Church Office and in Sunday worship bulletins in January.
Deadline for donations is January 21. For details and to learn how you might assist,
please speak with Jana Haas.
COME TO BOY SCOUT SPAGHETTI DINNER!
Boy Scout Troop 38 is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 5:00PM to 7:30PM on
Saturday, January 24 at Our Lady of Hope, 9711 Devon Ave., Rosemont. Tickets are $6
for adults and $5 for seniors and children under 12. Please speak with Paul Whittenhall
or Ben Whittenhall for ticket information.
BEFORE DONATING YOUR USED BOOKS….
Please package your used book donations separately from other donations you might
have for the Second Time Around sale, and remember to mark them for “Creative
Conversation” as the used book sale will be set up and running in Webster Hall before the
rummage sale takes place. For further information about Creative Conversation or the
used book sale, please speak with Jo Reilly.

WINTER PARKING REMINDER
As a courtesy to the senior members of our congregation and to those who might have an
especially difficult time walking on the ice and snow, on Sunday mornings please try to
reserve the church parking lot for these folks and, instead, look for parking on Graceland
Avenue, Marion Street or in the R. Franczak lot across the street and to the north on
Graceland. Thanks!
NEWS FROM THE PILGRIM FELLOWSHIP YOUTH
The Senior PF will assist with our church’s turn at PADS at St. Mary Church on Friday,
January 30 and then will meet for ice cream afterwards. The Junior PF will meet for a
game night at church from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Sunday, February 8, and the Senior PF
will have a game night from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on the same date. For further information,
please speak with Matt Cameron or Chris Grice, co-youth directors.
SAVE THESE DATES!
The Growth & Fellowship Ministry reminds you to attend church on Sunday, February 15
so you can enjoy special (chocolate!) refreshments in Webster Hall after the 9:30AM
worship service. Later that day, plan to put on your hiking boots and go for a Winter
Walk in the Woods. We will meet in the church parking lot at 3:00PM and carpool to
Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village. Afterwards, join us for pizza (optional) at nearby Lou
Malnati’s on Higgins. Sign up in the Church Office if you plan to attend or speak with
Debbie Walusiak for details.
NEWS FROM THE FOOD PANTRY
Many thanks to those who contributed food and funds (nearly $600!) to our church’s
recent New Year’s Food Drive to benefit the Self-Help Closet & Pantry….and, remember
to bring your can of soup to church for “Souper Bowl Sunday” on February1! Also, you
are invited to a fundraiser at Cheeseburger in Paradise to benefit the pantry and the
Optimist Club of Des Plaines. The event takes place from 5:00PM to 9:00PM on Thursday,
