Data is the tool that drives our decisions. We analyze and focus on a triangulation of data. Four critical questions associated with professional learning communities: 1. 2. 3. 4. How will we respond when our students don’t learn How will we respond when our students already know it? • Master Schedule- Designed so that support personnel for grades KN-6th are linked to each grade level during daily targeted instruction. • Goal- To create small group learning opportunities so individual attention can be given to every student. • Stults Road provides job-embedded collaboration. • All grade levels, support staff, aides, and tutors have a common planning time. • Professional Learning Communities and Faculty Meetings occur weekly. Teachers submit individualized tutoring plan to principal Teachers collaborate with support staff Teachers monitor to see if additional support is needed Teachers keep parents, support staff, & administrators informed of progress Teachers actively participate in the decision-making process. (Research from Teacher as Decision Makers James Cooper, 1999) Saturday School- Student Engagement Examples Title I Parent Education Activity Details SRI /DIBEL/ TAKS /LAT/TELPAS INFO Data night to inform parents on how to read interpret the different reports. Diana Day Night HEARTS Team communicates with parents about our school wide discipline program. Health Fair Hosted by Nurse, Counselor, and PE teachers. Outside booths related to fitness, diet, drug/alcoholic awareness, bullying, blood pressure, and cholesterol testing. Homework Club Ongoing activity designed to help parents help their children with homework. English Classes Community volunteers work with non-English parents while their children attend Saturday School. Title I Parent Education Activity Details Grades & RPORTAL Teach parents HOW to use the Grade Book System (RPORTAL). Pajama Reading Night Special Readers located throughout the building. Parents are encouraged to read with their children in a comfortable atmosphere-blankets & pajamas. Math Night Different math games, activities and a make & take session that allows parents to create manipulatives to use with their children. Curriculum Night Grade level meetings where teachers explain their curriculum and expectations to parents. Science Fair Training Classes presented in Spanish & English on how to complete a science fair project. Computer room is available several nights a week. Family Science Night Parents and children have an opportunity to complete a variety of hands-on science experiments.
