FEMALE DORM ENROLMENT GROWING
The enrolment of female dorm students grew by 150% this semester. It sounds like a lot.
But numbers wise, it grew just from two to five students. It may not represent much to
some, but it is a great accomplishment to us, considering we opened female dorms last
semester. VBC is the only Independent Baptist Bible College in Venezuela to provide
dorms for female students.
Having Venezuelan parents trust us the education, care
and protection of their daughters is not an easy decision
for them to make. But the reputation of our Bible College
has been gaining ground nationwide, making it easier for
them to allow their girls to leave home and come to the big
city to get a Bible College education.
Interestingly, these girls come from five different states of
our country (Miranda, Carabobo, Guárico, Yaracuy and
Barinas), and two of them are PKs. The Dean of women is
Sister Ingrid Martínez, who is doing a wonderful job taking
care of the girls.
We wanted to share this wonderful news with you, and
invite you to pray that the Lord will continue sending girls
our way to train them for fulltime ministry.
NEW SCHOOL YEAR STARTS WITH SOME CHANGES
We have introduced a few changes in our schedule starting
this semester. One of them is having a mid morning daily
chapel service. And what a blessing it has been to our
student body, as well as to visitors and church staff. It is a
45-minute service with announcements, congregational
singing, special music and preaching.
I regret to say that we should have done this sooner.
Before we only had an early morning meeting for a 30minute devotional led by our students. We have not
changed that, but we have now added a vibrant midmorning chapel service that challenges our students to
make spiritual decisions every single day, and that has
created a new dynamic and injected great enthusiasm in
students and teachers alike.
We have also revamped our curriculum to avoid duplicate
content, discard the superfluous, and add what was
missing. We have added more courses in education so as
to offer a more robust major in Christian Education for women, and added the staff needed to teach them.
Venezuela Bible College is slowly maturing and preparing for the challenges ahead. Please, keep praying for us.

CHURCH PLANTERS TO CUMANÁ – Wilfredo and Yolimar Orellana
Wilfredo visited our church one Prayer Service night 15 years ago. He
came in early. I happened to be in the auditorium at the time and
greeted him when he came in the door. After just a few minutes
conversation, I asked him if he knew Jesus Christ as his personal
savior. He shook his head. So I kindly asked him if he was willing to
hear for a few minutes how he could get saved, and he agreed.
The service was just about to start, and I did not want to wait till it
finished, so I asked one of our soul-winners to take Wilfredo apart and
share with him the message of the gospel while we proceeded with
the service. That day Wilfredo got saved.
To make a long story short, a few years later Wilfredo married Yolimar, who
had also come to know the Lord by the time. They now have three beautiful
children. Wilfredo is a senior student from VBC and has already started a
mission church in the city of Cumaná, located at about 8-hour drive from
Caracas. Please pray for the Orellanas. Your continued prayer and financial
support will allow us to keep training more men and women like them.
MEET ONE OF OUR FRESHMAN – Richard Blanco
Richard is brother of Assistant Pastor Luis Blanco. He and his wife Belkis got
saved a couple of years back during a Sunday morning service. Last month,
while attending our last Married Couples Retreat, Richard decided to
surrender his life to the Lord for fulltime service and get trained for the
ministry at VBC. Richard is an Electrical Engineer and Belkis is a schoolteacher. Pray the Lord to guide them in
the years ahead, and show them how He wants to use them in the ministry.
Thank you very much for keeping us in your prayers! Phil. 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need
according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
