At the annual State of the City business address in
partnership with the Chamber, Mayor Stinchcomb
will present a year in review -- highlighting the City’s
accomplishments for 2014. Last year, the number of
new businesses nearly doubled from the previous year,
adding more jobs to the city's economy. Thanks to new
construction, more commercial development occurred
along the Hamilton Road corridor.
Looking ahead, Mayor Stinchcomb will present the
administration’s vision and plans for 2015 and share how the City plans to engage
the business community to add more jobs and vitality to the city's economy. At
the conclusion of the presentation, Mayor Stinchcomb will answer questions from
the audience.

Business Growth Workshop
January Recap
On January 21st, the chamber presented an interactive
workshop titled “Time Management” sponsored by FM All
American Bar & Grill. Presented by Brent Long, Executive and
Sales Training Coach & Consultant, a brief summation of the
workshop by the speaker follows. “Time is a constant. It is
not something we can control, so “time management” sets
people up for frustration and victimhood. As soon as we
admit this and change our thinking to focus on behaviors and
productivity instead of the clock and busyness, a whole new
world of possibility and potential opens up to us. Participants
were asked to focus on what they put into
each hour, not how many hours they put
in, and were challenged to stop focusing
on “Clock Time” and start focusing on
“Goal Time.” After all, it’s about time
we stopped blaming time for our lack of
time!”
For questions on any of the materials, or
to sign up to receive email articles contact
Brent Long at brent@longonlife.com.
Meeting attendance will be confirmed.

About the Speaker:
My name is Sheila Murphy. I am in my 21st year with the Gahanna Police Department and currently assigned
to the Investigative Bureau as the Detective Sergeant. I started out as a patrol officer working all three shifts
then transitioned into a Community Oriented Police Officer riding a bike year round. After three years on bike
patrol and several concussions later, I was promoted to Sergeant where I again went back to working all three
shifts. In April of 2013 the Detective Sergeant position became available and I left my comfort zone of the
beloved street work and moved into an office position where I see “the other side” of police work. Thus far it
was a great move and I do not have to drive anywhere to get a cup of coffee as the pot is not too far from my
office door. I am one of eight Murphy children and must clarify the relationship between Chief Murphy and
myself. He is my brother, not my dad or my husband, but my brother….my much older brother. We attended the police academy
together back in the early 1990’s and as you can tell by the difference in our ranks, we took different paths in our careers! I do
however have my Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership so we shall see what path my future holds in there!
