The 2015 Midcoast Maine Lighthouse Challenge,
sponsored by the American Lighthouse
Foundation (ALF) and its chapter, Friends of
Rockland Harbor Lights, offers participants a
one-of-a-kind opportunity to visit and climb
some of the area’s most beloved beacons of the sea
during one weekend in June.

While you’re driving to
each of the lighthouses,
be sure to stop and
enjoy a number of
fascinating
“bonus”
sites
or
exhibits
along the way that will enrich YOUR maritime
experience. These sites or exhibits include: ALF’s
Complete the Challenge and be entered
into a drawing to win a luxurious two–
night stay at one of the three Historic
Inns of Rockland...Details online & in your

Lighthouse Interpretive Center inside the
Keeper’s House at Owls Head Light Station,
the Maine Lighthouse Museum and Camden
Harbor Cruises, who will be offering special
boat tours to view Curtis Island & Indian
Island Lighthouses.
Visiting lighthouses may be the big show,
but we have some fun extras mixed in for
you too, and it all helps support lighthouse
preservation!
Special Evening Program!
Join us for the premiere of “Living at the
Light: A History of the Owls Head Lighthouse”
a documentary on Owls Head Lighthouse
by videographer Craig Mathieson on
Friday, June 26th at the Samoset Resort
(220 Warrenton St, Rockport, ME 04856).
This brand-new documentary, which
skillfully blends the history, beauty,
romance and mystery that embodies Owls
Head Light Station, will begin at 7:00 pm.
In addition, the evening event will include
a silent auction filled with great items and
light refreshments. There is a $5 suggested
donation that will benefit ALF/ FRHL’s
lighthouse preservation mission.
