The 21,000-square-foot Family Health Center is scheduled to open its doors to patients at the beginning of March. The center will offer primary care, physical therapy, X-Ray, pharmacy and laboratory services to eligible employees and their covered dependents. The center will serve patients six days a week. Continue to check Currents for updates on the health center opening. William Hurst, MD Family Medicine “My goal as a family medicine physician and a leader within our team of dedicated professionals is to provide the highest quality, comprehensive healthcare for our patients and their family members with additional focus on improved wellness, health education and prevention.” Morgan VanDerHorst-Albaugh, MD Family Medicine “I believe that the foundation of excellent healthcare is a trusting patient-physician relationship. Being a family physician provides me with a unique ability to build these relationships with the entire family. Using communication, teamwork, and a strong commitment to disease prevention and management, we can achieve optimum health for every member of your family.” Beverly Withers, FNP-BC Family Medicine “Preventive healthcare is a vital key to quality of life. As the population ages, health screening, monitoring and managing adverse and natural health conditions are paramount. As a board certified nurse practitioner, my ultimate focus is development of individualized care plans with my patients to afford them the best possible quality of life.” Derryn Bray, DPT Progress on the HII Family Health Center, located on Washington Avenue, continues. When the facility is complete, it will have 19 exam rooms, two pediatric exam rooms and five speciality exam rooms. Photos by Chris Oxley Physical Therapy “As a physical therapist, I am passionate about helping others rehabilitate from injury and surgical procedures. I heavily believe in educating a patient and using evidence-based interventions to treat. By utilizing a functional and patient-centered approach, I feel that I am providing my patients with the opportunity to achieve their maximum rehabilitative potential.” Miranda Hayden, RD, CSR Nutrition Services “I desire to help people understand their true selves through adequate nutrition and exercise! Nutrition and exercise go together, and one without the other is like a missing piece of a large puzzle. I am delighted to help people obtain nutritional goals and help them strengthen their ability to make adequate decisions for a healthier life!” Clara Schneider, MS, RD, RN, CDE, LDN Chronic Condition Management “Patients are people with unique concerns about their own health. These concerns must be addressed as part of their care plan. Diabetes care is about teaching the patient ways to positively manage their diabetes and comorbidities they have so they can be as healthy as possible.” Rich McClelland Health Center Supervisor “I believe that achieving physical health and wellness requires a tean approach. In my experience, the greatest outcomes of care have occurred when the patient, provider, staff and family member are all working as a team.” Dan Naumann, MD Medical Director “Our office will be inviting, peaceful, friendly and very confidential. We want you to feel at home. With your input we can make solid individual health decisions for a better quality life and a longer life.” 1 | 25 | 2016 AROUND THE YARD New Year, New You Weight Watchers at Work will be holding an open house/registration meeting this Friday, Jan. 29, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in Bldg. 901 (CR 113) for employees who are ready to join the number one weight loss program in the country. NNS’ Wellness Champions were recognized at an appreciation luncheon Jan. 20. Photo by John Whalen NNS Wellness Champions Recognized During Luncheon Your Benefits Resources Platform to Upgrade to UPoint This Week Newport News Shipbuilding’s “Wellness Champions” were recently recognized for their efforts in supporting the company’s onsite wellness program, Interactive Health, last year. To show appreciation to the 50 champions, Interactive Health held a luncheon in Bldg. 520 on Jan. 20. On Tuesday, Jan. 26, the platform that is currently known as Your Benefits Resources (YBR) is scheduled to be upgraded. The new platform will be called UPoint. The upgrade will allow employees to personalize the information they see and have an experience that is simple, intuitive and flexible. Employees will access UPoint the same way they accessed YBR, using their current YBR login and password. Employees will have the opportunity to take a quick tour around the new site upon their first login. Should you have a question or concern, contact the Huntington Ingalls Benefits Center at 1-877-216-3222. “We wanted to honor these employees, especially for their support in the Take an Hour for Wellness campaign that provided free health screenings and flu shots to all NNS employees,” said Becky Johnson, Interactive Health. “These champions were responsible for promoting the event on their own time in their work area and were key to the campaign’s overall success.” Call the Employee Information Phone Line As a reminder, employees are encouraged to call Newport News Shipbuilding’s Employee Information Phone Line for important updates concerning shipyard operations. The phone line is updated daily with current information. 1-877-871-2058 2 4 CURRENTS 1 | 25 | 2016 DATEBOOK JANUARY 27 The International Compliance Office will hold “Annual Export Training- Basic” on Jan. 27 from 1-2 p.m. at VASCIC (large auditorium). I am not JUST A NUMBER. About Face Rethink what you think. “When people look at me, they may see just another kid off of the streets. They don’t see one of the best pipefitters in the yard, or a person who aspires to be the president of this company.
