H.E.Aapo Polho, Ambassador of Finland for hosting the RCDM Art Fundraiser at his residence. He
acknowledged the excellent support of the Embassy staff in their help and involvement to arrange the
event. The contribution by Rtns Anju Modi, Shibani Chawla and Ránne Anjana Somany, Co-chairperson,
Art & Culture Committee in organising a spectacular event ranging from the Dress to Paintings to
Sculptures for display and sale was laudable.
The event turned out to be a grand success. Besides RCDM Members, the people present were a mix of

Induction of H.E.Aapo Polho
President Bharat R.Joshi inducted H.E.Aapo Polho as an
Honorary Member.
Upon his Induction as a Member of RCDM, Rtn Polho
welcomed all to his home, one of the finest specimens of
Finnish design in the world. In fact, the President's official
residence in Helsinki was based on the Finnish
Ambassador's house in Delhi. The credit for this design
goes to a husband/wife designer couple. It was they who
went for a high roof and high windows. The angles of the
walls interspersed with ceramic work provided a simple
artistic look.

Joint Meeting with
RCD Chanakyapuri
A strong turnout of Art lovers in rapt attention
President and Members of RCDM took this
opportunity to felicitate Rtn Anju Modi on her most
recent achievement.
Rtn Anju Modi thereafter was requested to say a few
words of her journey in Fashion, which culminated in
her winning the Filmfare Award this year. Her start in
the field of dress designing and her success over the
years led to an entry into Bollywood a few years ago.
Designing of dresses in many films was done by her.
She was the recipient of the Star Screen Award and
Rtn Anju Modi
many others.
The crowning glory however came in 2015. She received the coveted
Filmfare Award for the dress worn by Deepika Padukone for the song
'Deewani Mastani' in the Bollywood hit 'Bajirao Mastani.'
This dress was on display at the Art Fundraiser and got a bid from an
RCDM Member.
Guest Speaker
Amisha Chowbey
The Guest Speaker, Ms Amisha Chowbey was introduced by Rtn
Shibani Chawla as an Art Writer who contributes to Hindustan
Times, Delhi and other publications She is also the co-founder of a
mobile app, currently being developed.
Ms. Chowbey looks at Art as trying to find something. She comes
from a family who have been Art collectors for 3 decades, According
to her the journey chosen by an Art writer can make mistakes as in
any other journey. In her view, the buyer of an Art item should make
an informed decision and not go purely on instinct. Questions need
to be asked to figure out what is being bought.
The main task of an Art critic is to catch & recognise the potential of
an Artist. The canvas is the Truism of the Artist.
As far as the buyer is concerned, Art investment is not just about
money. It has to encompass fame and love of the acquisition.
