Bulletinof Rotar ClubofBaroda Back to Bachpan Gyan Meter: November 2015 A report by Rtn. Palak Dave on workshop at T.R. Patel School: Sakhi means friend. Swati Bedekar the renewed social activist truly propagated the meaning of Sakhi by providing clean ,absorbent with great quality standards hygiene products at a very nominal price to her sakhis ie of our school going girls if the government schools. Also she has created an incinerator for disposal of hygiene products which too is environment friendly and economical and quality driven The Gyan Jyot team invited Smt Swati Bedekar to do a work shop on personal hygiene and good touch and bad touch at T R Patel school , Nizampura. It was graced by the Principal Amee Patel and few teachers. Girls from standard 5 to 8 were encouraged for this workshop. Swatiji explained the topics in a very play way and delicate manner. The girls were very receptive to this program and they stood up to volunteer too for this workshop. It was amazing to watch these little girls with very little exposure, taboo and non discussion regarding personal hygiene - to discuss and participate in such sensitive topics whole heartedly.Free sanitary pads were distributed to girls of 6 , 7 and 8 standards and incinerator for disposal of pads was installed. The Principal Ameee Patel was so over whelmed by the response that she requested us to conducted such workshops in her other schools which of course we readily agreed. Our heartfelt thanks to Swatiji for giving her valuable time and conducting this workshop in an excellent way.The event was planned and attended by Rtn Vaishali, Rtn Rachana, Rtn Palak, Ann Swati.
