Page 2 Page 3 PP Rtn. Aneel Agarwal PP Rtn Aneel Agarwal described Ms Motwani as an academically complex person. According to him, she is many-in-one. An author, a professional speaker and one who has contributed to the Corporate World. Her experience stretches from advertising to auto industry to financial institutions to health care and consumer behaviour. This has made her convert theory into action. For 3 years Business Today had ranked her in the top 15 women in India. Ms Anisha Motwani as a Corporate Speaker was impressed with the accomplished audience in an informal setting. Though she had reached a pinnacle, she had a normal family background. She had to slog for many years but the outcome & result came through. Her career started with the launch of the American car Chevrolet. A name most Indians could not even pronounce correctly. The advertising experience in Delhi cut across top multinational brands such as Nestle and Pepsi to Dabur. After 25 years, the realisation came that practice and theory are not the same. The question that arose was "Where is the learning, knowledge, information that is creating cumulative success” For 3 years, she used her experience to examine and analyse how Ms Anisha Motwani brands had succeeded. 20 businesses were identified. They cut across century old brands to new brands to new ideas. Some of the examples quoted were: Makemytrip.com which was a new idea. It was a challenger brand that only succeeded because of the hard work and patience of the promoters. In the mobile field, Idea had to fight established brand leaders. Tata Tea took the plunge to change the taste from British to Indian. The journey of Udupi goes beyond Marketing and Communication. End of the day there is a method to this magic. It is not happening by default. The right things have been done and decisions taken based on intuition and choice. This is how the idea for the book took birth. The purpose is to storm the norm. Look at new paradigms like Makemytrip.com Move away from papers/registers. Fight the tyranny of majority by going mainstream. Perseverance is the key to success. Spot mistakes to learn from them. The decision making should be centralised and intuitive. It is the will and determination that ultimately helps you achieve your goals. RTN Kathuria recited an Urdu couplet to sum it up. The essence was : " Take no help. If you want to succeed, do it yourselves” In the interaction there were queries on creating Indian/home brands in items such as jewellery and embroidery. Ms Motwani agreed and gave instances of MTR and Haldiram. There is a move for commodities to Rtn. Aneesha Dalmia proposing become brands. However this process will Vote of Thanks to Guest Speaker Ms. Anisha Motwani take time to materialise. Amisha Chowbey is an Art Writer from New Delhi.
