JLI-Turbo Hood
Product Description
System Jeven JLI-Turbo hood has been designed for
kitchens where exhaust hoods with high effiency
grease extracting are needed and supply air units on
the hoods are impossible to install.
JLI-Turbo hood is supplied with rotating filter unit with
damper plate and measurement taps.
TurboSwing filtering solution was developed for separating grease in professional kitchens with high quality.
The fast rotating separation plate extract even the
smallest particles and slings them at high speed to the
outer edges of the separation dome , from which
grease and other impurities drain into the collection
basin.
TurboSwing separates liquid grease and impurities and
they are removed by means of a tap.
During the annual check-up and cleaning of the
exhaust channels in addition the TurboSwing dome
and separation plate can easily be removed and
washed in a dishwasher.
Lights and Filters
JLI-Turbo is supplied with light fixture and TurboSwing
filter.
Material
The basic material is stainless steel (AISI 304)
or glass (JLI-S-Turbo models).
TurboSwing basic material is stainless steel, AISI 304.
The separation plate has been treated with dirt and fat
resistant nano-coating.
Accessories
Covering boards to enclose the area between the top
of the hood and the ceiling.
TurboSwing FC control unit.

Dirty air enters the TurboSwing(1). The
separation plate rotates (2), grease and
impurities are separated (3) and moved (4)
to the edges of the separation chamber from
where they drain into the collection basin
(5). Liquid grease is removed by turning on
the tap (6). Cleansed air exits (7) to ducts.

The picture shows the air flowing through
TurboSwing. Different colours and arrows
are used to describe different airflow speeds
and directions in different areas.
All of the dirty air flows through the fast
rotating separation plate. A sealing flow with
vortices is formed on the edge of the
separation plate, preventing the dirty air
short-circuit flow into the exhaust.

Objectives of Kitchen Ventilation
Exhaust Flow Rates
1. Cooking vapours and heat should be removed with the
help of efficient local exhaust in such a way that contaminants do not pass though the breathing zone of workers.
2. Temperature, velocity and cooling effect of the supply air
should be comfortable in the occupied zone.
3. In cases where workers are subjected to high heat
radiation, supply air should be adjustable by personnel
(local cooling)
4. Grease extractors should be fire-proof and, as with
supply air units, should be easily maintained.
5. Air flow rates should be easily adjustable.
Dimensioning
1. Size of the hood is determined by the size of the kitchen
equipment.Overhang depends on the type of equipment
and the distance between the hood´s condende gutter and
top of the kitchen equipment. Normal overhang varies
between 200-300 mm.
When sizing hood to oven, overhang should be at least
400mm, because when the door of the oven is opened,
a great amount of steam is discharged from the oven.
2. Air flow rates are dimensioned on the basis of connection
powers of the kitchen equipment.
3. Planning of the distribution of the supply air and marking
the products codes with air flows.
Supply Air and Generally Exhaust
Supply air flow rates are usually 80-90 % of the exhaust air
flow rates.Generally exhaust is usually 10% of the hoods
exhaust air flow rates.
Calculation of the exhaust air flows, based on the of the
connection power of the kitchen equipment.

Different kitchen equipment release impurities and excess
heat in different amounts. When air flow rates are
determined, kitchen equipment factor `Ke´ takes care of this.
Load factor `S´ is determined by the operation hours and
operation level of the kitchen equipment. If the equipment is
fully powered all the time, load factor is 1.0.
The exhaust flow rate `Mp´ is obtained by multiplying the
kitchen equipment factor `Ke´ by connection power of the
equipment `P´ and by load factor `S´.
