CONCERTATION TOUR OF THE NCC IN THE WEST AND NORTHWEST REGIONS
The Vice-President of the National Communication Council, Peter Essoka visited the West
Region from 25 to 26 August, 2014 and the Northwest Region from 27 to 28
August, 2014 with a delegation from the
NCC
to sensitize journalists on their social responsibilities. Together with his close collaborators in
the persons of the Secretary General Jean Tobie Hond and some Members, Nadine Machikou
Ngameni and Charly Ndi Chia, the Vice-President of the
NCC
met with the Secretary General of the Governor’s office who sat in for the Governor of the West

Region, the Government Delegate of the Bafoussam Urban Council, the Club Médias of
Bafoussam, visited the West regional station of the
CRTV
, the West regional agency of
SOPECAM
and some private media organs, such as
Radio Batcham
. On the second day of the visit in Bafoussam, some journalists in this region took part in a
seminar organized by the
NCC
under the theme “Responsible Journalism” in the presence of the municipal and administrative
authorities. In addition to the Vice-President’s address, Mr. Haman Mana, in his capacity as
President of the Federation of Newspaper Editors of Cameroon, made a presentation on the
central theme of the seminar which was followed by an intensive question-and-answer session.
In Bamenda, all activities were carried out on Wednesday 27 August, 2014 with a courtesy visit
to the Governor of the Northwest Region and the Government Delegate of the Bamenda Urban
Council, then to some media such as the Abakwa Media Group, Radio Evangelium, CBC
Radio
and the Northwest regional stations of the
CRTV
and
SOPECAM
Later in the afternoon and for four hours in the presence of Governor Adophe Lele Lafrique,
about 150 media professionals came to listen to the regulator’s message on "Responsible
Journalism". Like in Bafoussam, the Vice-President set the tone and a well-known media
professional, Gideon Taka, made a distinguished contribution to "Responsible Journalism".
Questions from journalists were answered by a panel of speakers.
