Bridge Builder - First Baptist Church Wetumpka
New year—new books! The hunters in our church and/or those interested
in hunting will want to check out Willie Robertson’s new book, American
Hunter—How Legendary Hunters Shaped America. Willie, of Duck Dynasty fame, has teamed up with William
Doyle to write a book that, according to the publisher, “is
the first book ever to compile a chronological history of
America’s greatest hunters. Based on the powerful personalities of colorful men and women, this book begins
with the Plains Indians and moves through legendary
hunters like Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Kit Carson,
Buffalo Bill, Teddy Roosevelt, Ernest Hemingway, Lyndon Johnson, and more…”. This book, which was given in memory of Bob
Riouff, is ready for checkout. Nineteen other new books went on the
shelves this week. Drop by the church library and check some of these
selections out this week!
Dear Friends,
There aren’t words that can tell you all that our
hearts would like to say, to express how much
we appreciate the many ways you have reached
out to us during this very sad, but also joyous,
time.
Sad, because we miss our loved one so much, but joyous
because we have many wonderful memories that will always
be with us, and most of all that he is with our Lord in heaven.
You have stood by our family during many peaks and valleys, during Bob’s battle with cancer; and stood with us when
God called him home.
Thank you so much for all the visits, phone calls, cards,
words of encouragement, food, and most of all your prayers.
Love in Christ,
Scarlet Riouff and family

During this last month’s business meeting the Music Ministry Search Team
brought a detailed report on the difficulty
in finding the right person to fill our position. I congratulate the team on a fine
and detailed report.
The team has focused on finding the right person for the position throughout the process. After over
two years in the search, the team is convinced that a bi
-vocational candidate, of superior ability, can handle
the task at FBCW, at least for the present. However,
the charge to the team was to locate a full-time staff
member.
The church, after discussion, made the motion
that for any candidate, other than a full-time candidate
to be considered, there should be a church vote to
broaden the search parameters for the team.
Therefore, the church in conference has decided to put the issue before the membership. This
next Sunday, January 24, a secret ballot vote will be
taken, in each morning worship service, on one issue.
“Will you as a church allow the search team to broaden
the scope of their inquiry to include bi-vocational candidates?” It is a simple yes or no vote. You must be present to cast your vote.
Any candidate they propose would still follow
the same process as any other candidate in their presentation as per our constitution and by-laws.
See You Sunday,
Doc Trog
