St. Mary’s Catholic Community
strives to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
“love one another.” Jesus is the heart of
our community and Sunday Liturgy is the
center of our worship. With Mary as our
patroness and model, we open our hearts
and community to all. As we journey in
faith, we grow through our sacramental
life, Christian education, and opportunities
for spiritual enrichment. Our vision is
expressed in a commitment to peace and
justice, respect for all life, appreciation for
the unique gifts of every person, and
outreach to those in need. Our parish
family affirms all members in their search
for truth as they meet the challenge of
being Catholics in this modern world.

St. Mary’s Religious Education
June 19, 2016
“I decided to dedicate a week of my summer to minister in
Washington, DC because I am so fortunate that I am where
I am today. We all have so much to be thankful for. Living
in Winchester, we have a strong parish, a strong
community, and a strong education system, among
numerous other resources and advantages that many do
not have across the country and across the world. I feel so
blessed, and so joyous that I have been given a chance to
grow up in Winchester. I want to take this joy and extend
it to those who need it the most and that is why I am going
on Encounter.”

EWTN OFFERS
EXTENSIVE
COVERAGE OF
WORLD YOUTH DAY
2016! -
June 19~ Twelfth Sunday in
Ordinary Time
“…when Jesus was praying by himself, and
the disciples were with him, he asked
them…., ‘But who do you say that I am?’”
Peter responded, “The Christ of God.”
How we answer this questions determines everything. To
be a disciple means that we follow Jesus, conform our will
to the will of the Father, keep connected through
sacraments of Eucharist and Reconciliation and daily
prayer. It means that we have the courage to tell His Story
- share the Good News. It doesn’t have to be on a
soapbox on a street corner. It can be at the soccer field or
water cooler or over the back fence: Who do YOU say that
He is?
Join EWTN on a historic journey to Poland to
celebrate the Lord’s mercy with Pope Francis and
thousands of young adults! Our coverage, July 25
-31, includes on-location broadcasts of the events
plus interviews with Catholic youth and religious
men and women from around the world! You can
find EWTN on your TV, radio, computer, and
mobile device! For more information, go to

CATHOLIC THOUGHTS ON THE CULTURE OF LIFE
Our Lady of Guadalupe
Patroness of the Unborn
To help stop the anti-life push in the U.S., we are encouraging the spiritual adoption of an unborn child. This is
done by praying that one particular but unknown child’s life be spared abortion and be allowed to continue after
birth.
To help accomplish this, it was recommended that an individual say the following prayer for a period of one year:
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of the unborn baby that I
have spiritually adopted who is in danger of an abortion”
During your earthly life this spiritually adopted child of yours will be known only to God, but in the world to
come and throughout eternity both you and the child will find happiness in each other’s company.
A beautiful thought

Today’s Gospel will help set the tone for this
coming weeks and months. Having placed our
faith in the Messiah, we are told that we must
take up our cross every day and follow him.
Strengthened by the power of Christ’s death
and resurrection, which we celebrated fully
over the recent Triduum and Easter seasons,
let us pray today to accept willingly the crosses
of this life that we may know the fullness of life
in the world to come.
As today’s Gospel confronts me with the
questions of who Jesus is for me, the Jubilee
Year challenges me to ask, to who will I become
an instrument of Jesus’ mercy?
