Incorporating current knowledge regarding brain activity and chemistry with proven clinical interventions is in fact yielding exciting quantifiable results. This neural and therapeutic intervention is an example of the growing field of new methods of treatment for sensory disorders. This one-day workshop is supported by the evidence-based treatment methods of the Ready Approach™, a brainfriendly frame of reference used for children and adults with Autism and other sensory processing challenges. Ms. Barker discusses current brain research and reviews adaptive treatment methods. She uses kinesthetic activities to give participants an understanding of their own brain responses and how this relates to the individuals they serve with learning differences and challenging behaviors. You will learn how sensation affects brain chemistry and circuitry and how to readily incorporate them into daily life. Attendees will leave with a development plan of easy-to-apply strategies on how to create optimal sensory environments to promote quality of life and learning for all children and adults at every level of ability. Therapeutic activities will be demonstrated throughout the day and videos will be shown to reinforce presentation content.
