Director of Missions Thoughts Congratulations to two of our churches who were recognized in the top 100 Fastest Growing Sunday Schools in the GBC between 2006 and 2009. In the Intermediate Category (101-199 in average SS attendance) Central Baptist Church ranked fourteenth. In the Mega Category (700 or more in average SS attendance) Sherwood Baptist Church ranked eleventh. Praise God for churches that are committed to Sunday School and are experiencing growth. Congratulations are also in order to the following churches: Cornerstone Baptist Church “as the church in the Mallary Baptist Association with the leading ratio of baptisms per resident members during 2009.” First Baptist Church Acree “as the Mallary Baptist Association’s largest percentage contributor through the Cooperative Program for 2009.” I had the privilege to make special presentations to both churches. They are to be commended for their commitment to the Great Commission. We also praise the Lord for the 37 representing 15 churches who attended the Executive Committee Meeting and Dedication of the Garage/Storage Building on April 15. We heard what God was doing in our association in the areas of evangelism and missions, prayer, and discipleship. We also heard how God continues to provide the monetary resources to carry on the ministries of the association; however we did not meet budget in contributions or expenses for the first quarter of the year and our expenses were more than income for the first quarter. Please pray with us about our finances. At the Dedication of the Garage/Storage Building we praised the Lord for providing such a wonderful facility to house the Event Evangelism Trailer and the Shower Trailer as well as provide needed storage. Appreciation was expressed to the 35 churches and individuals who contributed financially to make this a reality and a plaque was revealed listing the churches who had contributed that is now displayed in the meeting room of the office. We spent time praising the Lord for being the One who worked through His people to make this happen. We also, of course, enjoyed a time of fellowship with refreshments! As you know, we recently approved a partnership with the Metro New York Baptist Association as part of the partnership that the GBC has with them. Three pastors (James Chambers, Ken Chancellor, and Jason Jones) and I will be going to New York City May 22-26 on a Vision Trip for the purpose of seeing what God is doing through the Metro New York Baptist Association, their strategy for reaching New York City for Christ, and how we can assist them in their strategy. Please pray that we will see as the Lord sees the needs there and how He would have us to participate in assisting in meeting those needs. We will report to the Evangelism/Missions Team and together we will develop a plan for this partnership. Praise the Lord for what He continues to do in our churches and the association. God is at work! Let’s make sure that we join Him! Please keep praying for revival and spiritual awakening in your heart, in your church, in your county, in Georgia, and in the United States.
