To provide quality and value based education to students coming from rural areas around KGF. * To cater to the need of under privileged sections of the society through low fee structure and reservation of seats. * To make students aware of social problems like Alcoholism, Tobacco chewing, Hygiene, dowry system through an efficient wing of National Service Scheme. To make students and teachers join hands in conducting rural development programme. The SD/SW NCC units, with rigorous training session builds discipline and patriotism among the cadets. Annual Blood donation camp was conducted and blood so received was donated to the various government hospitals in the area. {. Students actively participated in Kannada Mahotsava celebrations on 6th of August 2011 at Sri Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain College, KGF Six of our students took part in the State level cultural competition at Mysore on 26th and 27th of Aug.2011. Teachers dav celebration on (05-09-2011): Teachers day was celebrated on 05 -09 -2011, with the active participation of Maior English students. Various events were conducted as funfare for the lt staff,and prizes distributed 1 I nterco! leoiate Competitions: Highly talented students were encouraged to participate in VRISHNI intercollegiate competition conducted in Sri Bhaghavan Mahaveer Jain College K.G.F.on the 1Sth and 16th of Sept.201t. 21 students participated and won prizes in different events. Forum's lnausural function was conducted on (17-09-201 1): Talented students were selected and trained with the help of other faculty members. After the formal function, cultural programme went on smoothly for about 3hrs. Students took part in Iarge numbers at Bio Fest on 30th Sept.2011 at Sri Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain College, KGF Cultural competitions were held between (25:01 .2012) & (01 .02.2012) and prizes were distributed to the winners. Staffs from various faculty were invited as judges for the above competitions and results were announced on the notice board. Our students even participated at the state level cultura! competitions on the 17th of Feb.2012. We bagged the consolation prize for classical dance. Forum's V Cultural programme was included to entertain the audience on the day of Valedictory function, namely 9th of March 2012. 2, NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES INITIATED (UG AND PG): NIL. 3. INNOVATIONS IN CURRICULAR DESIGN AND TRANSACTION : As the curriculum is designed by the Board of studies of Bangalore University to which the college is affiliated, there is no scope for individual curricular design. 4. INTER -DISCIPLINARY PROGRAMMES STARTED : Maintaining greenery at the campus, and at the English lab in particular. This was conducted by Prof.N.Subramoney of the English department. Students from various faculties were invited to be volunteers for the same. With full participation of the student volunteers a visible change is observed. 5. EXAMINATION REFORMS IMPLEMENTED : As the examinations are conducted by the Bangalore University, the reforms as and when applied by the university will be implemented in the college, as the college is affiliated to Bangalore University. lt does not have the power to make any reforms on its own. 6. The college NSS unit had a 7 day camp at Kotilingeswara, Kammasandra village, Bangarpet Tq., KGF between 10.02.2012 and 16.02.2012. The villagers were made to realize the importance of Hygeine and sanitation. A free health check up was also organized. socio economic survey of the village was'also conducted by the volunteers. A b. NSS unit of our college conducted Aids awareness programme at the college with MYRADA, Kamasamudram, KGF. c. Blood Donation, Health check up and blood grouping was taken up with the coordination of Govt. General Hospital, KGF and Devaraj Urs Medical College Hospita! and Research, Kolar. 73 units of blood was donated by the students and staff of the college d. LegalAwareness programmes was conducted. e. NCC ACTIVITIES: i) our NCC cadets participated in the lndependence day and Republic Day parades at the Municipal Grounds and won the third place. ii) Cycle expedition covering 50 kms was undertaken by 130 cadets to encourage adventure to a place called Avani. f. Prof.Subramoney N of the English department was been invited to give guest talk to students of various colleges as follows. (i) on 16th of December 2011, Jmotivation speech was given to the students of Adarsha College, Kolar. lt was to highlight on the necessity of developing communication skills in English. (ii) ln Feb.2012, a talk was given to the students of Sri.Kengal Hanumanthaiah law college, KGF, on Environmental issues in our day to day life. g. OTHER ACTIVITIES: a. The college sports Department has performed outstandingly at Various activities and is listed under sports activities. a. Dept of sociology conducted seminars on a) Population and b) Rura! urban Migration for the students. They also conducted lecture contests on Violence against Women and dowry harassment. b. Various Zoology students of V sem took active part in lecture contest on 'T.s of Lever and r.s. of Kidney. ll sem students participated in the lecture contest on Molluscanshells. c. d. The Department History took up a visit to temple of historical importance, namely Someswara swamy temple at Kolar on the 3rd of Sept. 2011 and explained the students the various intricacies and structural excellence of the various sculptures and their characteristic features. A seminar titled 'Can Lokpal bill help in the prevention of corruption in lndia' was conducted. On the occasion of world Womens day, the Dept conducted a seminar on 'Empowerment of Women'was conducted. Dept. of Botany organized a discussion on 'Environmental enrichment programme', global warming, development of kitchen garden, roof garden and recycling of waste. Students were enlightened on maintenance of Herbarium. e. Dept of Commerce conducted competitions in Pick and Speak, Top and Pop, Stress management, Product launch and Business quiz. ( ii) .Our footballteam went up to the last four at the university level. (iii) We got two places in Intra university Weight Lifting by Arun L of V sem B.Com. and in best physique, Arun L and Subramani of I Sem B.Com. The represented at the interuniversity competition at Rothak, HP. (iv) our college student Bellappa KM, represented the Bangarore university at the inter university competition at Banasthali, Rajasthan in Yoga.. 33. INCENTIVES TO OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONS: a. Various competitions were held for different events and ! & Il place winners were awarded prizes with certificates. b. sharath Kumar of lll B.sc, winner of chest champion sheep at the Bangalore University represented the University at the National level and won laurels to the college. He was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3000/- by the college. ' 34. STUDENT ACHIVEMENTS AND AWARDS: a. Our college students won the Rolling Shield at the intercollegiate lecture contest held by the Bangalore Science Forum, at The National College, Bangalore. b. our students won the Second place at the various competitions in 'Vrushni', held at Sri Bhagavan Mahaveer Jain College, KGF b. Students won prizes in three events at the 'science Fest' conducted at the Garden City College, Bangalore. 35. ACTIVITIES OF THE GU!DANCE AND COUNSELLING UN!T: Students were consistently briefed on a) Admission to higher education: Over 40 students of our college were encouraged and motivated to take up Post Graduation at the Bangalore University, Bangalore and the P.G center, Kolar of Bangalore University and other PG centers of Bangalore 6.. University. b) Preparation for various competitive exams: lmparted individual counseling and training in personality development and helped them to identify their respective strengths and weaknesses. ll 36. PLACEMENT SERVICES PROVIDED TO STUDENTS: Many students took up placements at various companies/organization. Note worthy amongst them are: a. 23 students were successful and got appointed in ING Visya Bank Ltd. b. 18 students got placement at Higher levels in Coffee Day. 37. DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES FOR NON.TEACHING STAFF: Mr. Shivaraj and Mr. Venkatesh pursuing graduation under distance education and Diploma in computer education. 38. HEALTHY PRACTICES OF THE INSTITUTION: a) Dept. of Physics is continuing with the repairing & service of the lab equipment with the active involvement of students. The results of the various semesters were reviewed and areas of improvements were identified and corrective measures continued. b) LEAF - the eco club of the college is constantly involves in the maintenance of greenery and healthy atmosphere in the campus. The seed bank programme is an on- going activity to engage the students in growing protein-rich Lima Bean plants at home and in the neighbourhood. Further they take up beautification of the campus in growing ornamental plants. The innovative activity is the collect the leaf-litters and decompose in the pits to recover rich manure for the plants in the campus. ldentification of the plants and birds in the campus to activate their sense of sight and hearing. All the activities inculcate the tenets of environment through Reduce, Re-use and Recycle and Protect, preserve and propagate. The programme for the coming months is growing of flowering tree sapling from seeds collected from the camps. Plant a seed to'plant a memory which growing hope and confidence within. c) The concepts of "Seeds" took deep roots in the college as well as our sister institutions like, the Kengal Hanumathiya Law College and KGF PU College. Seeds were distributed and multiplied. This activity is intended to be an ongoing process. 39. LINKAGES DEVELOPED WITH NATIONAL / INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC /RESEARCH BODI ES: Ms. P.G.
