Holmen Highlights
A Letter from the Principal:
Graduation for the 2013-2014 school year is upon us. Once
again, we have been blessed with an excellent group of seniors.
They have excelled in multiple areas. These areas of excellence are, but not limited to, academics, music, athletics, student organization and more importantly, their volunteer hours
and contributions to different charities and fundraisers. Even
thought I have been involved in education for the past thirtythree years, the students at Holmen High School continue to
amaze me! Parents, thank you for raising such wonderful
young adults.
As you are receiving this, we have Senior Banquet the evening
of Wednesday, May 21st and Graduation on Saturday, May
24th. Both of these events are at the La Crosse Center. The
underclassmen will have finals on June 5th and 6th, with their
last day being Friday, June 6th. Summer School will start right
away on Monday, June 9th.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel
free to call us at Holmen High School.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Baer

DRESS CODE:
Shirts/blouses/tops must meet the top of the pants. If skin
is exposed between
the top and pants, this is not appropriate.
Shirts/blouses/tops should have straps a minimum of an inch in width.
Pants need to be worn at waist level.
Short shorts, super low rise pants and short skirts are not appropriate.
If inappropriate dress is worn to school, we will contact both students and parents
and require a change of clothes. The school may supply appropriate shirts or
slacks and expect students to wear them for the remainder of the day, if parents
are not able to bring a change of clothes.
If you question the attire to be appropriate or not, it is probably inappropriate
dress.
Clothing accessories (such as chains) that may cause safety concerns are not
allowed.
HEAD APPAREL/
SUNGLASSES
Head apparel and sunglasses will not be allowed in the building from the
time the student enters the building in the morning until the student leaves
in the afternoon. Head apparel, including head bands, scarves, bandannas, picks, or hats, worn by any student in school will be taken away and
detention may be assigned. In addition, students are not to carry hats in
the halls or to class; keep them in lockers. Head apparel will be turned in
to administration. If repeated, the item may be kept and given back at the

PARENTS OF JUNIORS/TO-BE SENIORS

technical school, the selection process have become more competitive than ever. Be prepared, be early
and be assertive!!!
Here are some recommendations for your student:
*Plan a few college visits so that you can compare and contrast the different programs/campuses.
Schedule your visit online or call the admissions office.
*If your student needs to retake the ACT test, have him/her prioritize some time studying for it.
There are plenty of resources online and/or your public library.
*Schedule some volunteer experiences...there a many opportunities available in our community.
*Prepare your activities resume so that it is ready for college applications and scholarships. Remember to include all activities between grade 9-12.
*Finalize the list of colleges that you want to apply to, complete the college applications online,
check them thoroughly and save until colleges starting to accept them.
*Email your counselor if you have any questions/concerns regarding the college search!
