STALLATION OF LIGHTS!
We can finally see some of the productivity of our Doors and Lights Project.
On February 16 and 17, the fluorescent fixtures in the church were removed and replaced with 14 new
church appropriate lights. We are
blessed with parishioners whose generosity has made this improvement possible.
As of today, $24,000 in donations has
been collected toward our original
campaign goal of $40,000. In order
to complete the project, the remaining
$16,000 must be collected. This money
will be used to replace spotlights with
energy efficient fixtures and bulbs.
When all of the church lighting has
been replaced, our parish will realize a
$3,600 yearly savings on our electric
bill. This alone is a great incentive to
finish the project.

¡LA PARROQUIA DE SAN JOSÉ COMIENZA LA
INSTALACIÓN DE LAS LUCES!
Finalmente podemos ver alguna productividad de
nuestro Proyecto de Luces y Puertas. El 16 y 17 de
febrero, las luminarias fluorescentes en la iglesia
fueron eliminadas y reemplazadas con 14 nuevas
luces apropiadas para la iglesia. Estamos bendecidos con
feligreses cuya generosidad ha hecho posible esta mejora.
A partir de hoy, se ha colectado $24,000 en donaciones
hacia nuestra meta de campaña original de $40,000.
Para poder completar el proyecto, se deben recogerse los
$16,000 restantes . Este dinero se utilizará para
reemplazar proyectores con lámparas y luminarias
eficientes de energía.
Cuando se halla reemplazado toda la iluminación de la
iglesia, nuestra parroquia se ahorrara anualmente $3,600
en nuestra factura de electricidad. Tan solo esto es un gran
incentivo para terminar el proyecto.

permanent supportive housing program needs a vehicle (in working condition) and has no means to buy one.

LENTEN REGULATIONS
1.Everyone 14 years of age or over is
bound to abstain from meat on Ash
Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent.
2.Everyone 18 years of age and under
59 years of age is bound to fast on Ash
Wednesday and Good Friday.
3. On these two days of fast and abstinence, only one full meatless meal is
allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be
taken according to each one’s needs,
but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is
not permitted on these two days, but
liquids, including milk and fruit juices
are allowed. When health or ability to
work would be seriously affected, the
law does not oblige.
4. To disregard completely the law of
fast and abstinence is seriously sinful.
5. Lent is the principal season of penance in the Church year. All of the
faithful are strongly urged to develop
and follow a program of voluntary selfdenial (in addition to following the
Lenten regulations), serious prayer, and

Stewardship Thought for the Week
Today’s first and second readings are linked by the theme
of sacrifice. After Sarah and Abraham wait years to have
a child, God’s tests Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his
only son, Isaac. To encourage the Roman Christian community, St. Paul reminds his brothers and sisters in Christ that
God sacrificed His only Son for the good of all. In St.
Mark’s Gospel account of the Transfiguration, God clearly
acknowledges Jesus as His Son, and Jesus alludes to His
deathand Resurrection. Our own sacrifice of the “first
fruits” of our time, talent, and treasure to God through the
Church, and to our neighbor, are solid acts of Christian
charity. Sacrifice brings great peace and joy to those who
embrace stewardship as a way of life.
