The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office partnered with Target’s
Community Giving Grant Program Shop With a Cop. Deputies
brought 20 East Baton Rouge Parish kids, nominated by school
counselors based on need, to the Siegen Lane Target to shop for
Christmas gifts. Target started the “Shop with a Cop” program as a
way to build a positive relationship between law enforcement and
the children in the community.
DEPUTIES OF THE MONTH
Deputy China Williams has been recognized as the Administrative and Support Services Deputy of the Month. She started in Foreclosures in 2011. In 2013 she was
transferred to the Human Resources Division. Deputy Williams graciously volunteered to help a coworker complete a heavy workload of paperwork that needed to
be entered in the Great Plains program. She’s always willing to lend a helping hand.
Job well done!
Deputy Jordan Manchester has been assigned to Corrections since his began with
the office in 2011. He has been honored with being named Corrections Deputy of
the Month. He is commended for locating and securing a weapon that was on hidden under several layers of clothing while booking an inmate. His thoroughness
prevented what could have been a very dangerous situation. Keep up the good
work!
Deputy Jeffrey Sickler has been named Uniform Patrol Deputy of the Month. Dy. Sickler began his career in 2006 in Corrections. In 2012 he was transferred to the SCAT division; he is
currently assigned to Kleinpeter Substation. He is dedicated and does not mind going beyond what is required of him. He recently helped calm a very combative patient. Due to
Deputy Sickler’s consoling demeanor, the patient was transported without being subdued.
Great job!
Corporal Leigh Rice has been with the agency since 2007 where she was assigned to
the Criminal Records Division. In 2008 she was transferred to Communications; in
2009 she was assigned to Uniform Patrol. Since 2013 Corporal Rice has been in the
Detectives Division. She is an asset to this department. Corporal Rice recently
worked a sex crime investigation where she was able to obtain a confession from the
suspect which resulted in an arrest. Thanks to Corporal Rice’s diligence, this perpetrator is no longer walking the streets.
Deputy Amy Maggio has been named Civil Deputy of the Month. She has a reputation for being supportive and helpful towards her coworkers. She is considered an
asset to her department. Deputy Maggio began with the office in 1998 where she was
assigned to the Finance and Budgeting Division. She has been in the Purchasing Division since 2001.
